I was (nearly) burgled last night

Wow!! Yes, things can happen anywhere.

Did they get disturbed or did your security foil their plans? With successful break-ins, they reportedly often come back 2 or 3 times with enough time for the insurance settlement to replace things they took the first time. Hopefully however you foiled them will keep them away.

(nearly) burgled is much better than them actually getting in an rummaging through your place, even though it would've been the same cost to you. It's VERY invasive having someone rummage through your stuff regardless of how much they find. Having them prying at your windows is invasive too, but not quite to the same degree. It's all degrees of skin crawling.

We have been burgled twice, it is the most sickening feeling, knowing someone has been through your stuff, the worse thing was the tape that was inside the video camera which was stolen had the first three months of my DS's life on it, devestated

Ohh my gosh! Am so glad you are safe though!!! What idiots!

We had 2 teenagers try to break into our place once...well they took their time breaking down our timber fence, gate was locked, they made so much noise they woke me and naturally I stupidly went out and confronted them. They took off, after I had a piece of timber thrown at my head but I was able to give a good description to police and they got them (judge let them off at court though). Turns out they had just robbed corner store and threw a Pringle container at our garage door...with gate being locked they couldn't retrieve it...hello fingerprints. That was when Baby Girl was 6 weeks old and Mumma was sleep deprived and really not impressed to be woken by idiots lol

Yep. Thank heavens for photos, not the same but better than nothing, I wish my kids were born in the iPhone age, it just seems so much easier to pull a phone out and take small video clips/photos every day.
We learnt one lesson, we now have double/ triple copies of everything, we are so backed up we will need a laxative

Rear-view mirrors are always handy. As are those backing up sensors; in case of accidents.

That's horrible, glad they didn't get in. We just had the chemist down the robbed & that was too close for comfort.
