I was just called an emo-chick...

Depends on who was calling you emo...

It could be a compliment from some and a negative remark from others...

It's not good. Do you seem depressed? Are you wearing all black, with your hair hanging in your eyes?

No, no, no - it's not a state of mind, it's just a style.

I dont think it's bad and was what would be considered an EMO when I was in high school, and have emo tendencies. :teeth:

Search eBay for EMO - see what comes up. :thumbsup2 And see if you'd buy it.

An emo chick would kind of be today's version of the 90s Goth. I'd take it primarily as an insult b/c the connotation is that of someone who is trying to be different while being trendy at the same time.

WOW!! So you learn something new everyday!

So from what I understand, it's sort of eclectic...like a little bit goth, a little bit rock-a-billie, a lotta bit retro...

Interesting! I know some "emo-chicks" and I didn't even know I know it! :thumbsup2

:confused3

My DS said that Emo kids are emotional, hence the "Emo". He also said that the Emo guys wear girl clothes. :confused3 They also have specific hair cuts with it real short in the back with long bangs over in the eyes and in the face. Just going by what my high schooler said.

K, well I am no where near a goth chic or anything that you guys described....maybe they didn't know the meaning :confused3

Maybe what I said earlier didn't come out right. Basically, I guess, emo has become a trend. Like, people who are trying to be cool and different and rebellious, but really they just shop at Hot Topic in the mall instead of Abercrombie like the "preppy" kids.

Make more sense? Not that there's anything wrong with it, but the "purists" don't like it. Same thing happened with goth and then punk. It's just a trend.

Emo is a genre of music, kind of an offshoot of punk. The bands are very in touch with their emotions. ;) Songs are kind of screamed/wailed, but there is generally some melody in there.

My step son must be an EMO; he dresses in girls clothing at times, has this teen angst thing to a science and just seems depressed.

:thumbsup2 that's emo

Just to add more confusion, don't forget there's emo and then theres just scene kids.

Depends on who it was,I'd consider it a compliment.

I too, think EMO is a poseurish way to say you want to be punk

Yep! I get them confused sometimes. DS always corrects me. Did I confuse them again?
