I'm sorry this happened to you. It's really a horrible experience. My sister-in-law (18) was bit in the face by their neighbors pit/akita mix. This dog knew her well. It got out of the neighbors fence so she went out to put it back so it wouldn't go into the highway. She leaned in to grab it's collar and it attacked. My other sister-in-law(12) had to beat the dog off her with a piece of wood. It was bad. The 18yr old almost lost her eye.
Those idiot neighbors refused to put the dog down and a big long court battle is still ongoing. It really took an emotional toll on her. With it being her face and the nightmares. She was a little nervous around my dog because she's big (I have a very social doberman...except if you are a swiffer or cookie sheet
). She's has gotten better and her fear of all dogs has subsided. (She bought a puppy!!)
Anyway they did the quarantine thing and there was no rabies. She still is dealing with plastic surgery though.
Good luck!!! I hope everything goes well with you!
