I was able to switch from the GF to the Poly. I know I made the right decision!

I was finally able to get into the Poly! I am so excited. We were originally booked at the GF for our trip. I just couldn't get excited about this resort. Everyone here on the boards gave me great encouragement about the GF and I truly appreciated it. There was just something holding me back. I can't explain it. Even my DH could tell something was different about this trip. He could tell I wasn't my usual disney obsessed self. The funny thing is I have never stayed at the Poly before. But I have always wanted to. So now we are off to the Poly in two short weeks and I am about to jump out of my skin with excitement.

And just a word of encouragement to anyone trying to switch resorts or get into your favorite. Don't give up. I tried for almost two months to switch with no luck. And then magically something was available. So keep trying.

Oh and the best thing is the surprise we have for my girls. Every trip without fail my girls always ask if we can leave to go to disney a day early. The day before our trip they always ask, actually beg, can we please leave now. Of course the answer is always no because of our reservations. But not this time. I called and added an extra day to the beginning of our trip. So when my girls get home from school and start begging to leave now, I am just going to say, "Sure, hop in the car, let's go." I can't wait to see the expressions on their faces.:)

You made the right decision! The Polynesian is a wonderful resort and I'm sure your family will enjoy it.

What a great surprise for your daughters! I hope everything works out! :)

That's great! My family LOVEDthe Poly when we went!:thumbsup2 Have fun :cool1:

I am glad to hear you loved the Poly. What type of room did you have? We have a garden view room. I am sure all rooms are great. After all, we will be at the Poly. WooHoo!:)

Although the Coronado has become our fav resort, the Poly is our favorite deluxe. We have had both water views and garden views...and both our beautiful. We had a water view when we took our oldest son and his girlfriend for his high school graduation with a balcony. They found it very romantic. We loved the convenience of the monorail and love the restaurants. Have a great time with your family.

You're the coolest mom ever!:cool1: That is so amazing that you did that for them!

I also love the idea of the planned extra day. I will have to use this one myself some day.

Yeah I live by the never give up rule! Congratulations have a wonderful time! If it were me I would be doing it the other way around, I know trying a new resort is scary (i've still been scared of the poly mostly due to the 1 sink thing) but love the GF, I think that if you were not able to change resorts you would have had a wonderful time there! :)

Congrats on the upcoming trip!!!:cool1: We loved the GV room at the Poly:dance3: We were in Roratonga on the 1st floor.... very close to everyting...
Have fun!

I am so excited for you! My family and I LOVE the Poly and while we like staying at POP or POFQ, the POLY is extremely special to us. You're going to have a great time! :thumbsup2

I am sure I would have been fine at the GF if we weren't able to switch. After all, we are at WDW. I am sure one day we will try the GF. As a matter of fact, this trip I am going to make sure I go over there and check things out. Just so I can see what it's all about.:)

Good for you! I agree--never give up. And my DH has taught me that it never hurts to ask. Several years ago we were at GF for the first time and were very disappointed in the service (especially for the price we paid). DH asked to be switched to the Boardwalk--our tried and true favorite--and they did it. We were much happier.

I'm not saying GF isn't a great hotel, it was just the service we received on that particular visit years ago. It was mostly regarding the concierge staff too.

So I've become more outgoing when voicing my needs/wants. If Disney cannot accomodate they will usually let you know in a nice way.

Just sharing my experience.

Like all WDW resorts, the Poly is very well-themed. But, unlike most others (I have only seen AKL to be the other exception), a good portion of the staff is from the far off area (Polynesia) that the resort is trying to duplicate. So, remember your "Aloha" and "Mahalo", and maybe even get some kukui bead necklaces from some internet shopping to wear during your visit, because Polynesian culture abounds at this resort.

If you like to dance, don't miss the hula lessons early Saturday morning, as it has a very loyal following, even amongst off-duty CMs. Plus there's the torch-lighting ceremony and the arts and crafts for the kids just inside the lobby. The place is just the best!

I am sure that the GF is absolutely beautiful and the service is A-1, but I already know that my plane landed in Florida. Now I want to escape to Disney and fantasy! Bring on the Lapu Lapus!

You'll love the Poly! And heck, you can always see the GF from the beach if the mood should strike you. LOL
Have a great trip :)
