I want to throw out Mickey mugs

I only have one set of four, but we got them in 2010 and still use them all the time. I always had one or two in use in my classroom for water when I taught, we use them as water cups for road trips, etc.

I can see how people who go often would amass quite a collection! If I was still teaching and had a bunch I could have come up with lots of uses for them. If you know a teacher (of young kids) who might want them....

If they're not getting used regularly, who will even notice if they're not there anymore? If it were my household, it would be a loooong time before anybody asked about them, if they ever did. At that point all you need to say is "What mugs? Oh, those? I sent those to Goodwill ages ago." :confused3

I have an ace idea.

(I often do, but this is a new one).

YOU send them to ME gratis :)

When it comes to things like this I make the decisions about what stays and what goes out of the cabinets.
If my family wants to keep anything I want t throw out, they can find a space in their room (or the office or garage if it is dh) and do whatever they want with it.

What about putting them in a box and put away?

I know it sounds silly but my mom kept a few drink containers from my childhood--one of them being a pocahontas drink cup with a lid, another thing she kept was those McDonald's Hercules plates you used to get (though I think we have just one or two).

Anyways it was so neat to be able to open the box once it was passed down to me.

Perhaps that is the reason your family wants to keep them. If there isn't much of an emotional attachment to them I would donate them as well or at least what you can or even put those without emotional attachment in a box and attempt first to sell it in a garage sale.

My now 26 year old LOVES the Hercules plates I kept. Tried to toss them when I moved but she snatched them up quick! She has fond memories of using those for breakfast, they were their egg & toast plates.

For quite a while mine was my dinner plate lol. I too have fond memories of it.

I am the quiet one sitting there looking at my book listening to discussions between my family members of where things have gone. I definitely keep a few sentimental things, but most things go to goodwill, unannounced, just so I won't be hit with protests. I also try not to let things that I know will collect dust to come into the house to begin with.

I think I donated the ones without stains and tossed the others. They are such a waste of cabinet space...I will decline them if offered again in the future at WDW.

To collect or drink from? I can't imagine even donating my cups. They're full of coffee stains.

People buy mugs as pen holders for their desks and stuff. I'd get out what I could, but not worry about it too much.

What I do with "kitchen clutter" here is box stuff up. It goes in the basement until the annual flea market at DH's lodge. At that point, I open the box, "rescue" anything that still speaks to me, and donate the rest. After not having it for a while, it's easier to determine which items are sentimental, which were actually missed from a usefulness standpoint, and which can go bless someone else.

I love them, we always get two from Disney and two from Cabana Bay - they're perfect for when I make a coffee at home in the morning and need to take 'to go'. They do take up space but I wouldn't be with out them.

What if you re-purpose a few that are in good shape? Crayons for kids/grandkids, buttons, loose change, etc. My daughters use them for water in their room since the lids snap on so well.

Not that it matters to what I'd so with them, but I'm curious about what exactly these cups look like. I tried googling but a million different images came up. Anybody got a picture?

Have everyone pick their favorite one to keep. Put the others in a box in the garage. If it isn't opened in two months, donate or recycle.
Then, if you get more, each person has a choice to keep the new one or their old one. The other goes away immediately.
