I want to see the drones

My DSis is there tonight!
Was the 9 or 10:45 show. We had originally planned on the 9, but may shift due to the crowds.
We are going to take our chances at Summer House on the Lake patio. Jalo is $79 per person.. that seems pretty high.
Their standard tasting menu is $100, so it is in line with what they already offer.

Is that $100 per person? Just curious

We watched it from the green space near House of Blues on June 1. The show is incredible! There are trees in that green space, so part of our view was blocked. It was still incredible even with a partial blocked view :-) .

I don't think Disney planned for the popularity of this show. Getting out of there was a nightmare. It was more crowded than NYE (yes, I've been to DS on NYE). We were literally shoulder to shoulder one tiny step at a time for about 45-minutes trying to leave that area. Unless they change the foot traffic patterns, we'll be watching from a distance next time.

I watched from that same section on the grass on June 7 Friday. No problems with the trees - I wandered around for a good strategic section where the trees weren't in the way. Crowds there are immense - the traffic of cars trying to get in and out are just overwhelming the roads and parking structures so far. Busses definitely seem like the better way to get there, but then plan on sticking around a good 30-40 minutes after the show because the rush to the busses is pretty crazy and I think you could have to wait for the 2nd, even 3rd bus, to get on board for your resort.

I decided the better way to go was to drive to SSR, on the plan to eat at Turf Club, then walk over the bridge by the clubhouse to Disney Springs west-side, watch the show, then walk back over the bridge to my car and drive back to Boardwalk...avoiding all the traffic along the main Disney Springs road and garages.

There will also be no music from the SSR side.
Was just at SSR this past weekend and saw the drone show from the "golf parking lot" on the back side of the carriage house. The view was perfect (even if show was mirrored). We could hear the music from the Springs. It was us and 7-8 other people and we all agreed it was perfect place to watch with zero crowds. Enjoy.

Shhh Don't tell anyone else.

What if you were taking a bus to SSR. I don't know the resort that well.

Get off at the carriage house, walk past the pool, through the gift store, out the back door, down the stairs and you'll see the springs. The parking lot is back there. Great spot. Or if you drive, just park back there and see the show.

And the bridge over to Disney Springs is just to the right when you head out the back door, just past the boat dock. It's just a few hundred feet over to the west side area if you want to see the drone show from the front, and hardly anyone heads back that way after the show so you're not fighting any crowds.

The only thing to consider if taking a bus to SSR while staying at another resort - to get back to your resort from SSR, you'll need to transfer. After the 9pm drone show, you may still be able to get a few theme park busses running at 10pm that you could board then over to your resort's bus - but once the park busses stop, the only way back is to take the Disney Springs bus - putting you right back in the crowds leaving Disney Springs...unless you wait a while until things calm down.

Thanks for this!

Good point about the buses.

Anyone know if this is just a summer thing? We aren't going until early Dec.

Sorry, it ends on September 2.

Hopes are it’s a practice run for a future show, maybe in a park, maybe AK. We can hope!

Assume we’d need a dining res to enter SSR via driving. Wanted to see it twice during longer trip the end of the month.

First part of split stay, thinking to boat down from OKW, grab a bite to eat, then double back to watch the show from the area you describe above & back to boat launch afterwards.

Those crowds & ensuing traffic reported is really daunting. just a bit much for me to deal with at the end of a long disney day in the parks.

Generally parking in the larger resorts like Saratoga isn't too much of a problem like it is for resorts like Boardwalk where they really want proof of why you're there. If you just tell the gate you're meeting some friends there for dinner, you shouldn't have an issue.

I seem to remember a drone show during Christmas time a few years ago. Anyone else remember this?

I wasn't there, just something rumbling around in my brain.

Yes, I remember it - it was lovely, but of course not at all as sophisticated as the current one. The technology was new then.

Proof? It's been a while, but while we were in the area were were let in to Boardwalk by showing our DVC membership card and said we wanted to show the kids the resort.
