We wish to have one experience from viewing the MK fireworks from one of the 3 restaurants outside of MK (ie Narcoossee's, California Grill, Ohana's). But they are all sold out - at least the viewing times on the days we are interested in.

Can we put our name on a waiting list in some way?

Keep trying. With the new cancelation policy in effect, more people are apt to cancel their reservation at least 24-48 hours in advance to forgo the cancelation/no show charges to their credits cards. These range from $10-20 per person.

You can try to get a walk-up, but if all else fails, then try to get a ressie at the Kona Cafe & just watch them from the beach at the Polynesian.

As the PP said, if Wishes from a restaurant is something you really want to do, keep trying. However, if you are unable to get anything for Wishes time, don't feel too bad. 'Ohana is pretty far from the MK, so the view of Wishes is pretty distant especially when you add the extra distance from where the fireworks are actually shot off to the MK itself. CG is nice if you can get a window seat, but standing outside from the top of CR can be a pretty brutal experience in January. Narcossee's is also night but from that vantage point I would still rather just watch from MSUSA. This is not to mention that we find the food at all 3 of these restaurants to range anywhere from average to awful.

The best view of Wishes always has been and will probably always be from MSUSA. Something I would suggest, especially if you don't have little ones with you, is to make an ADR for about 9:50 at any of the monorail resorts, this way you can watch Wishes from MSUSA before heading over to a much quieter and relaxed meal. I would go with Citricos since it has, by far, the best food in the MK area (not counting V&A's).

Sorry to hear about your predicament. Unfortunately you waited too long to make an ADR for some of the most popular restaurants at a busy time of year. As the PPs have recommended, keep trying right up until your arrival date for a spot. Cancellations do happen. But not as often for really popular restaurants.

If you can't get an ADR at your top 3 then I'd go for second best: Kona Cafe, Citricos (or Grand Floridian Cafe), or the Wave. Get an ADR for either well before or just after Wishes. Watch Wishes from the Poly Beach, GF dock, or 4th floor observation area depending on which resort you are eating at. Yes it might be chilly, since it's January. Dress appropriately for the weather and take along a hot beverage.

Good luck.

When it comes to the California Grill are there any other times it happens to be available? The reason I ask is because you can have an earlier dinner for Wishes and come back later on to their 2nd floor check-in desk with your reciept and they will let you back up to watch Wishes.

Folks have been making those reservations since July. These 3 book solid well in advance. There are no waiting lists at WDW. As the others have said, keep checking on line. If someone cancels that opening will become available to book. If there is a spot open, you can book it. They do not hold tables for walk ups at any restaurant.
