I'm considering ordering a GF cake possibly from the Grand Floridian. Can anyone share their experience with one? How was the taste and what flavors were there to choose from? Thanks so much! This will be my first trip to Disney while being GF.:goodvibes

Go check out the cake threads (type it in the search bar)..there are about a million posts on cakes and experiences. Good Luck!

Thanks:goodvibes. I did but there was hardly any info. regarding a GF cake. I even posted a question there on that thread and on the restaurant boards. They all told me to post a question here.

I ordered a gluten free/dairy free cake from the Wilderness Lodge. It was chocolate and cost around $29. I was told I could only get chocolate or vanilla for gluten free/dairy free, so I'm not sure if just gluten free has more choices. It was pretty good. I think I might have gotten sick from it (b/c I had tummy issues every day that I ate it), but I was also sick from something else (crohn's related) on the trip, so I can't say to 100% that it was the cake. I have pictures on my blog, if you're interested.
Probably the best dessert I got from this last trip was the dessert (kind of a mini-cake) from the California Grill at the Contemporary--to die for!

Also, I was told they couldn't really do anything for customization b/c of cross contamination. I'm not sure how the GF will be with a cake order; i had a horrible experience with the GF afternoon tea in which I was promised all sorts of custom desserts and was given a french meadow brownie when I got there instead. But, I am hoping that was just a fluke, and you get a great cake!

Good luck, and let us know what you end up doing. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much.:goodvibes I'm still debating whether or not to order one. It would be nice to have a GF cake on our trip to snack on since I can't have too many cake like desserts while there. I wonder if they only do GF/DF together or if they can do just a GF cake which would allow more flexibility with flavors since I don't have any issues with dairy products. I guess the only way to know is for me to call. If I do order one, I'll be sure to post it over here so others can know. Thanks again!
