I want to learn to Design

I may be crazy... but I've recently been bitten by a design bug. I have seen just a few of the DISigns and would like to learn how to put some together for myself. But I'm completely clueless. I assume there are some basics - computer software, lots of time, clipart purchases... but I don't even know what questions to begin to ask. Can anyone point me in a direction to begin the learning process?

I think some of my stuff is ok and I just use paint.net,,came with my computer.
I have been feeling the bug(DIS) to get something a bit more challenging but
so far I'm happy. At the top of the page is a sticky that lists places to get clip art,
Try www.disneyclips.com

so now you have an image saved to your computer

Well this is the place for you... I recommend getting photoshop elements and learning its basics... here you can work with layers and shapes and experiment! But you can start with whatever basic program you have on your computer....

I am trying this stuff out too...

I have only figured out how to fills word art with pictures though it doesn't look near as good as other peoples! The picture doesn't repeat like in other peoples fills

Any advice how to make it look better?

I will look into photoshop elements too

Thanks Mel, tried a basic design on Paint (my computers basic program) and I was able to make a nice mickey head with words in it... even changed the mickey head colors...
Also, I think I will look into photoshop. Looking at the name... I can probably use it for pictures with my new camera as well!!! Thanks for the advice so far!

I recommend that you download the trial version of Photoshop Elements and see if it is the program for you....full blown Photoshop costs hundreds and hundreds of dollars and may not be right at the beginning of your DISign career!
