I want to hear Welcome Home!!

I bought DVC a couple of years ago and we've stayed in OKW, VB, SSR and HHI. My family and the friends that I have taken on these trips have enjoyed the trips so much, the friendliness of the CM's, how nice the rooms were and they have all said that they couldn't imagine finding something to complain about! (Mom does bring her own TP though, but that's probably TMI) We even had a broken dryer on the last trip and we still found a way to make light of it and make it fun.

So I told them about these boards and that people will complain about not hearing "Welcome Home" when they came to the gate or the front desk-of course, none of them believed me. I'm emailing them the link.

What's really crazy is that they Welcome You Home at value resorts. Whaaaat? There's not a DVC even close to them.

Actually, the welcome home is at ALL the disney resorts these days. We stayed two weeks in our motorhome at ft. wilderness and heard welcome home every time we returned. It used to be an exclusive dvc thing, but not anymore, you will hear it anywhere you stay on disney properties (listen to the spiel on the new buses).
Just another reason dvc just isn't as special as it was at one time, at least not to us.

Welcome Home!!

It's curious you didn't hear welcome home. I can't think of a time when I've been to OKW that I didn't hear 'Welcome Home'.

Consider yourself 'welcomed'!!

I've only stayed at SSR and OKW, but I've been "Welcomed Home" pretty much
every time. As a matter of fact, OKW said it EVERY time. We would always
reply, "Good to BE home!" Every time!

Im not sure how "new" it is to the other resorts

we heard welcome home at other resorts long before we were ever dvc members

I couldnt care less for the most part, its nice to hear once in awhile, but honestly, every time?

I've only stayed at DVC resorts since joining in 1996, very limited stays at non dvc since then. I only noticed it this past summer when staying at Fort Wilderness and we had the new buses with the pre-recorded info. and welcomes.

i admit when we were new members, it meant alot to hear it. Now, we don't even miss it if they don't say it. We will be staying at Fort Wilderness more often than not and we STILL will hear it, lol.

I love hearing Welcome Home but I didn't realize that it impressed my brother who has been a guest of ours many times. He just told me that one of his fondest memories of his trips to WDW with us was going through the gate at BWV for the first time and hearing the guard say, Welcome Home. He said it just made him feel so good and so privileged to be staying there. His eyes were watery when he told me this and it made me so happy that we are fortunate enough to be members and that we can share our wonderful DVC with friends and family. That is why we bought points in the first place and it has enriched our lives beyond our wildest dreams

I'd have to say, of all the DVC benefits, this is probably THE BEST one. It is also one that DVC cannot take away from us. I loved sharing disney with 9 other members of our family in a GV last year. A few had never been to disney before so a grand villa just made it all the better of an experience.
