Since I recently started a post venting about a small issue that really bugged me I wanted to start a nicer post about something WDW did for us that was just awesome.

My daughter bought a Nemo stuffed animal at one of the parks with her own money. (You see where this is going right?) She left it on the bus a day later. She was heartbroken about losing Nemo (ironic huh?). The first bus driver gave me some wrong information about how to possibly find Nemo so we asked another one. He was beyond helpful and radioed somewhere to inquire about our beloved stuffed animal, they did not have it wherever he radioed but he then gave us the correct information on who to contact to begin looking for it. I offered to buy my daugther a new one it was not expensive so did not seem like a big deal to me but she was sad and only the one she bought with her money would do. So for 3 days in a row I waited on hold for 30 minutes or so with lost and found only to have to hang up because we had to get going for the day. On the 3rd day I finally got through and the woman on the phone was very fast to tell me they had our Nemo. She offered to ship it home for us since it was our last day and she did not want us to miss park time trying to find their office. My daughter's Nemo arrived at our house safe and sound the same day we did. So thank you Walt Disney World lost and found for all the help in locating our precious Nemo. (and thank you to whoever was nice and turned Nemo in)

That's good to hear that your DD has her Nemo.. and that someone actually turned it in! There are some good & honest people left in this "world" :goodvibes

Disney Lost and Found is awesome. DF let me borrow his camcorder on my trip last December and I left it on a Segway. Oops. Of course this was the day before I left. DF called them the next day and they sent it to him. He asked how much it would be for them to ship it and they told him Mickey would take care of it. Lol. When we got it back, we found that they had filmed a little peek at the lost and found office.

My friend had a very expensive DSLR shipped home to him on Mickeys dime. He left it behind on a bus and a nice person turned it in to lost and found. The shipping on his gear was probably around $20.00 and disney would not accept a penny. :thumbsup2

awesome you got it back!!

I work at the world in a position that gives me a lot of freedom. I find things almost on a daily basis, from hats and stuffed animals to wallets. Don't give up hope if you lose something!

When I worked in the parks, we used to regularly find cameras that people would leave behind at shows, restaurants, attractions, etc. We'd always turn them into Lost and Found, but we also ALWAYS took a photo of our entire crew, holding a sign that said, "We're the people who found your camera." :goodvibes

You'd be surprised how many of those photos came back with notes like, "Please find these people and thank them!" We also got a lot of notes that said things like, "We have hundreds of photos from our WDW vacation, but the one of all of you is the first one in the album." Hee.

rofl, thats great!! I'm definitely going to steal that idea from you!

We were in the MK on New Year's Eve. After the fireworks, my traveling companion realized that she did not have her cell phone. The last she remembered was using it at 9:00. At that time, it ran out of charge, so she hadn't tried to use it again.

The next morning (New Year's Day), she went to Lost & Found at the TTC and they had found her phone! She said the place was huge. Considering the large numbers of people at the park, I just can't imagine how many phones, cameras, packages, etc were "found" on NYE and turned in to their Lost & Found department. Yet, the next morning, they had her phone. Everything had been gathered, cateloged, and organized so that the CM could find each "lost" item and return it to their owner.

DH lost his drivers license while we were on our honeymoon back in '99. Next day, he called...and they had it. The CM who answered made him laugh too...commenting on my husband's grouchy expression in the license picture, lol.

What great stories! It's nice that the CMs at Lost and Found get recognized too! I can't imagine the number of things that get lost or left behind each day. I don't kow how the manage to find anything at all when people come looking for them!

I love the CMs! :)

what a great story! i'm glad your DD got her Nemo back!

last week, i found someone's annual pass in the Buzz FP machine. i gave it to the CM. i just hope the passholder got it back. :confused3

To make a very long story..somewhat short we found a camera last year lying around in the MK on the ground. I thought it was mine at first. Same camera bag and all... but when we opened it up we found pictures of this cute little family with little kids. (not that our family isn't cute :rotfl2:) We felt so bad. In any case, we turned it in to lost and found at our hotel. We were staying at WL. We made a cute, quick sign that said..."Enjoy the rest of your vacation. From, the family that found your camera." Our son held up the sign and we took our picture. The people did a smart thing though. They took a picture of the KTTW card on their camera so the front desk at WL looked them up super fast, called SSR which is where they were and told them about it. They were so happy that we found it. They wanted to meet us, but we thought the sign was good enough! :goodvibes

Awwwww!! How sweet!!

Lost and Found does rock, last year the mousekeeping at All Star Music searched our room twice after we left for DH's missing ipod and placed a follow up call when the next room occupants left to let me know they didn't turn in an extra ipod. Its those little extra touches of WDW magical service that keep us coming back.

I love the CMs! :)

We had to go to the lost and found on our last trip and while we were waiting a woman came up looking for sun glasses she lost. The CM asked what color they were (brown) and came back with a big thin box that must have had at least a 100 brown sunglasses layed out in it. If I remember right the CM also said that this is the first box and there are two more still back there!

Our story also ended well. We had left a bag at Beaches and Cream one evening and although it didn't turn up at lost and found before we left, about a week later we get a package from Yacht & Beach Club containing our lost bag.

We lost our DD's (then 3) precious teddy bear---you know, the item that cannot be lost, if you know what I mean. We lost it at Epcot, probably in the parking lot as we were getting her and her stuff in the car.

We stopped at Lost and Found twice; no luck on our threadbare bear. The second time was also our last day at the parks. The CM at lost and found took our information and address, and promised to keep an eye out for Teddy. But in the meantime, she handed us a voucher for a new plush toy from any gift store.

I really thought that was a wonderful gesture; I mean, it wasn't at all Disney's fault that we left our bear behind.

She picked out a Pluto plush; and we replaced the bear later with a new one that we said was mailed by Mickey Mouse (but only after he had a makeover at the BBB--to explain why new TB had a lot more hair than lost TB!).

:)

Our friends and I on separate occasions have lost an iphone, credit card, 2 professional cameras, and a wallet. All of these items were turned into disney's lost and found. I have never been so surprised, especially knowing if I lost anything in my backyard it would probably be gone forever.

Great stories guys! It is things like this that keep the magic alive for me at least. To the CMs onboard I love your stories of things you do with people's cameras before returning them. If my hubby ever left his behind it would devastate him! (Not sure how he can ever leave it behind though since it never leaves his eye ball)

I also don't have enough good things to say about lost & found. They are so good at their jobs. Thanks for returning my husband's favorite hat!!!
