I want to buy a Pal Mickey for an upcoming trip (6/22-30). I would like to have it before the trip so the kids can get into it but want suggestions on getting the most for the money. (Can't justify the $50-$60) I wouldn't mind used but even on E-bay they're expensive.

Any suggestions out there?:wave2:

We bought ours shortly after checking into the BC, at their gift shop. I'm not sure how you could get a better deal on one buying it prior to your trip, they are always pricey. I just wanted to say that we really enjoyed ours and will us it again on our next trip. Not very many people were using them when we were there in March though.

I would wait 'til you get there and get a new one (as opposed to ebay...I hear some of the prices are inflated there). Why would I wait? Because PM doesn't have an endless supply of jokes, and if the kids started listening to them too soon, PM might be a little lame by the time you get to WDW. Mind you, I thought he was a hoot at times...very cute...but would hate for you to spend the money and they don't even want to play with him by the time you go on your trip.

Hi

I have just been back staying in the All Star Movies. I saw the Pal Mickey in all the shops. I thought it was annoying toy you would have to carry and take to the parks. Is this right? I didnt see many people using them. I am not sure on the actual use of the Pal Mickey. Other than tell you park tips and jokes. I dont understand how he actually works and knows what parks you are at. Sorry to be thick, but was a little confused.

Not sure if I should get one when we return in November.

From what I've heard, it sounds pretty neat. Yes, you do have to carry him around the parks (I would on the stroller.) But he tells you if the lines are short, when the shows are going to start, and litle bits of info about not only the park that you are in but the specific part of the park you are in. (They have set up scanners all over the place to feed him info.) I guess you can have him repeat it several times and play games and tell jokes.
I'm not sure how GREAT he is but you can spend $30 on just a neat talking plush toy. This one at least will be a great link to the trip as well as give and added interaction with the park (maybe just a novelty for us first-timers.)

I don't know if you are a DVC member, but if you are, from time to time when you check in they will give you a coupon for a discount on the Pal Mickey. Also check and see if you have any discounts at any shops at WDW (usually at WOD only) from an annual pass, DVC membership, or anything else that you may be involved in. If you still want it before hand, you can always call WDW merchandising in FL and have it shipped, but you will spend at least $8 on shipping. I don't have the number off hand, but it is on many sites on the web, and if you cannot find it, you can also call your local Disney Store for the number!

:earseek: Disney World mail order number is 407-363-6200. I have ordered a couple things since going in October. They are excellent there!

This is not the type of thing we normally would purchase. Kids get to spend about $25 at end of trip...........but..........DD had birthday money and really wanted it. So we bought at the hotel the night we arrived.

He has a computer chip in him and as you pass through the park turnstyle (with him turned on) the computer is uploaded with current information. So we go back the next day and the info is changed.

He always knew which park it was and where he was because there are sensors all over the park. When he had something to say he vibrates. You squeeze his hand or tummy and he talks. Maybe about an attraction, or tells you a joke that may be relevant the area (cowboy jokes in Frontierland), talked about parades, warned if you were near water (he can NOT get wet) and he was a delightful addition to our family.

He has a clip like a cellphone on him, so you can wear, but he is only about 14" so he could go in our backpack too. Now that he is home he continues to joke and he plays games. We'll take him back next trip and once again he'll know where he is and be our guide :earsboy:

We love our PM. We hooked him to our belt loop as well as on the stroller. The jokes are cute (not funny, just cute). We will take him on our next trip for sure!

We (DH 40 and DW 39) bought our pal mickey during our last trip and thought it was great. Especially some of the hidden objects that mickey tells you about as you're walking around different areas of the parks. We didn't think it was a hassle to carry, just clipped to our belt. One thing we did not think about was the water rides and getting mickey wet. That was a problem the first day - trying to keep mickey dry - but after that we brought a plastic back to stick him in which worked fine while on the water rides.

We will be taking Pal Mickey back again on our trip in a couple weeks.
