When I came to the UK to visit my relatives in the mid eighties, Soda Streams where all the rage, but now they are collecting dust in the back of people's cupboards. I haven't seen one in use for years and years.
Ah, yes we've got two!! Both gatherin dust in the garage now but were great when the kids were little. We loved them but they took up too much workbench space and I got sick of traipsin to Asda to get refill gas bottles.
The link has an extra comma on the end, so delete that and it works
I can't see the point of a Soda Stream these days. Soda (fizzy pop) is available everywhere in loads of flavours and most are very cheap. When the Soda Stream first came out pop was not as readily available (we used to have the Corona man come round in his van once a week ).
Soda Streams come from an age when Chopper's, Space Hoppers, Lava Lamps and Spangles were all the rage!
I guess that they have a "retro cool" image now - but as Tim mentions - many supermarkets have cheap and reasonable "own brand" colas etc so there isn't much point.
It was a real big thing, but I seem to remember that the gas bottles were expensive and hard to come by.
...... I've edited the comma out now - well spotted Tim
The lava lamps made a big comeback ....... there's all sorts of similar stuff in Discovery Stores...... found in every shopping mall near you ...... we always pop in for a look around, how about you?
