I Want A Soda Stream!

ROFLOL - Sorry, Had to laugh! Suzi is right;)

When I came to the UK to visit my relatives in the mid eighties, Soda Streams where all the rage, but now they are collecting dust in the back of people's cupboards. I haven't seen one in use for years and years.

Bev

They still sell them in the asda walmart near us so someone must buy them!! It isnt me though.

I beg to differ;)

I bought my DS a Soda Stream for Xmas and he loves it:)

Oh No,

Now I have that tune in my head from the commercials for it.............

"get busy, get fizzy with a soda stream"

Argghhhhhh!!!!;)

Wow!! That is a blast from the past :) !

The link isn't working for me at the moment Brad.

My mother had one of these when we were small - they are great novelty value but as Bev says, they were all consigned to the back of a cupboard!

Ah, yes :D we've got two!! Both gatherin dust in the garage now but were great when the kids were little. We loved them but they took up too much workbench space and I got sick of traipsin to Asda to get refill gas bottles.

I didn't realise they had been around that long!

I'm sure they are good for novelty value for kids, then mine will join all the others in appliance heaven;)

The link has an extra comma on the end, so delete that and it works :)

I can't see the point of a Soda Stream these days. Soda (fizzy pop) is available everywhere in loads of flavours and most are very cheap. When the Soda Stream first came out pop was not as readily available (we used to have the Corona man come round in his van once a week :) ).

I remember Corona our village shop used to sell it - I think you got 3d back for returning the bottle. Boy do I feel old!

I remember the 'pop man' who used to go around the estate where my nan lives.

You had to save the empties.......god I feel old.

We also had a soda stream. All the kids in the family had one each for christmas last year. Maybe they are now retro.

Brad,

Soda Streams come from an age when Chopper's, Space Hoppers, Lava Lamps and Spangles were all the rage!

I guess that they have a "retro cool" image now - but as Tim mentions - many supermarkets have cheap and reasonable "own brand" colas etc so there isn't much point.

It was a real big thing, but I seem to remember that the gas bottles were expensive and hard to come by.

...... I've edited the comma out now - well spotted Tim :)

The lava lamps made a big comeback ....... there's all sorts of similar stuff in Discovery Stores...... found in every shopping mall near you :teeth: ...... we always pop in for a look around, how about you?
