I used to see them on sale all the time. But now that I actually am looking for one I don't seem to see them.

Do you have a particular brand that you like? What features should I look for?

All I want is a breadmaker and a dough feature......and mine does that.....some even make jam......I like one that makes a one and a half pound loaf or a two pound loaf......Making bread is simple and easy .....just always measure correctly and accurately......Walmart had some that were very inexpensive and good for my needs.......

well I love the dough/pasta feature and the speed bake is great too.
I just bought a new one my old one lasted 5 years of pretty heavy use so I was pretty happy.

I agree that the dough feature is wonderful. I very rarely use mine to bake bread, but I do use it to kneed it and do the first rising if I'm only making one loaf. We don't really care for the texture of bread when it's baked in my bread machine, but it's just fine for getting it ready to put in a loaf pan and bake in the oven. It's also good for mixing pizza dough.

Get one with atleast a two pound pan. Most packages are in that size.

I've never used one, are they that much better?

My sister let me borrow hers for awhile a few years ago and I think it spoiled me. It did everything including making dough, jams, quick breads but it went for around $300.00. The brand was something like Zozurishi (???). My BIL had done quite a bit of research and wanted this one.

I can't afford $300.00 for a bread maker, but I would like the dough feature. What brand should I look for that isn't too expensive - Like $100 or less?

I bought an Oster because thats what I had last time and I loved it so much!

$59.99 and it does everything I want it to do :) ( well except for having a self cleaning feature when are they going to build that in???)

I agree with the putting it in a loaf pan and baking it the texture is much better but I have used mine twice allready this week and its great hard to beat fresh bread and for gifts especially, people think youve worked really hard for them. ;)
*Mental note to self scratch making bread for Tia and Judy this year ;) now that they know my secret*

and my simple one was 39.99 ......love any type of bread that I have made in mine
I do not like the mixes ....in a pinch I do.....but I get my flour at a bulk food store and I use red star yeast that I get in bulk from the King Arthur catalogue....and I just love to make it.....french bread is my favorite and also pumpernickle

I paid over $100 for mine a few years ago for dw, and it is sitting in the closet collecting dust...
Think it's a Black & Decker...

We bought one for Chris 4 years ago - It's never been out of the box. Don't even remember what brand it is.
