I Usually Dont Ask For Anything,BUT MY DM NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS

I need you to say a prayer for my DM she is in the hospital.My DSD called me this morning and told me to meet him at the hospital.My DM has had sever abdominal pain and diarrea for about 2 weeks and it just kept getting worse,so he said enough is enough,we had an appointment for her on July16th and that would have been as soon as they could get her in.She just kept hurting and could barely stand the pain so we took her over to the hospital and they run some tests and done a Cat Scan on her stomach and it showed that she has major inflammation in her large bowel and colon and the blood work showed a high white blood cell count.The ER Dr called in a specialist and he told us that she has Chrones disease and Colitis.They admitted her and will be doing a Colonoscopy Monday morning to check for Cancer she has been bleeding from her bowels for a few days.We can hardly get her to eat anything.
I have worried and cried,i just dont know what i would do if they were to find Cancer or something.They have been giving her Morphine and that did not stop the pain so they are now giving her something stronger and it is helping some but she said the pain was still there.
Please if you will,say a Prayer for my DM (Vickie) she could sure use it.

Misty, I know what you are going through, as my daughter is coing through a bout with Crohn's Disease right now and they are planning to do surgery Monday. She is 32 years old, and has had Crohn's since she was 17.

Don't anticipate the worst thinking cancer.....it may not be that at all. Crohn's is a chronic inflamation of the digestive tract (it can be inflamation anywhere from the small intestine, the illium (where the small and the large intestines connects) to the lower colon. The severe pain and bleeding can be from infection, or fistules or ruptures in the lining of the colon.

They are planning to remove about 18" of my daughter's colon (where the most severe infection is). She's been in the hospital for five weeks now (she weighed 88 pounds when she went in, and she's 5'6" tall, so she was skin and bones). They've been trying to build her up to withstand surgery, so hopefully this will give her some relief for a while.

Crohn's is a terrible disease and my prayers and best wishes to your mother, to you and your family. If I can give you any more information, please send me a PM and I will be happy to answer any questions I can.

My DH has suffered for 18 years with Chrohns. It is a managable disease if they can get it under control. I'm so sorry she's in so much pain, it's been hard to watch my DH with it also.

I've been where you are, 14 years ago with my Mom. She has ulcerative colitis and with meds (prednisone) she is doing great! Don't even think cancer. Deal with that when it happens.

Thank You Guys so much,as i was sitting here reading your replies the tears are streaming down my face.Just knowing the support that you get from people you dont even know.
I am fixing to get ready and go over there to see her.I called her and she said that the pain was a little better today.

Misty,

I'm so glad we could help you feel better, if only a little bit. Your mom will need alot of rest, your patience and help dealing with this. Having to be forced to take meds on a permanent basis and some of the procedures they have to do can be really hard on her.

What I've learned from this illness is patience and compassion for those with it.

Please do give us an update and try not to worry too much, just take one day at a time for both of you.

OH, I forgot to tell everyone that there was a good thing came out of all this.The Doctor told my DM that she had to quit smoking and taking goody powders.She was not to happy with this info, but i sure was.That was the best news i have got in a long time.
