...and booked our honeymoon cruise, 4 nights on the Wonder, leaving 10/24/04!!

Considering our wedding is the day before, we won't be arriving in Orlando until about 11:30 on Sunday morning...so we'll rent a car and make the drive to the port as quickly as we can. I know you guys suggest arriving a day early...but, well, we just can't...we have a commitment to keep the day before :teeth:

Now that I've gone and booked, I'm already starting to put a list together of things I'll need, any suggestions??

What about excursions for honeymoonin' adults?

Lastly...and most importantly...do we wear our bride and groom ears on the ship!? :bounce:

Thanks for all the advice so far!!!

sarah

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage and DCL honeymoon.

I can not answer really any of the questions, except that on our cruise there were two couples that had on the Bride and Groom ears.

I would wear the ears, and make sure that you let them know that it is your honeymoon. I would also book the REAS (Romance at Sea Package).....
Have fun.

Wear the ears with PRIDE! You'll be glad you have 'em in the photos 50 years later!
Don't forget to take photos of your scramble to the port...You could add a page of hilarity to the trip report stories similar to those of Delswife!

NHDisneykid, we're on the same cruise! Congratulations on the wedding. Sounds like it will be fun!!

I have a feeling that it's going to be a mad rush to get to the port!!!

Thanks for the well-wishes, guys :)
We really can't wait for the trip...It's my first cruise ever, so I have no idea what to expect!
DF has been on many cruises, but never on DCL...I actually think his family thinks we're a little nuts that we spend so much time at Disney...but he's glad that he's marrying into such a Disney-lovin' family!

I have a feeling I'll be reading these boards with a little more intent in the next couple of months!

Also, I did go ahead and book the REAS package too...what the heck, it's my honeymoon, it's ok to splurge!!

Congratulations on you upcoming marriage and honeymoon!

We just got married on June 26th and started our honeymoon with the June 27th 4-day wonder. We had a 7 am flight out of Philly and had no problems getting to the port on time. Just be prepared to be exhausted on your first day though! We were. We also splurged on the REAS package so we wouldn't have to worry about doing the ressie rush.

We didn't see anyone on our cruise with the bride and groom ears on. At dinner, we were given buttons that said it was our honeymoon and we wore them. We were seated with another couple on their honeymoon and we did see several other couples with the buttons throughout the ship. I personally think the bride and groom ears are tacky and we got plenty of attention and congratulations by wearing the pins (we also had bought the bride and groom mickey pins to wear in the parks and these were also noticed quite frequently).

Hope everything goes well. Happy planning and feel free to ask any other questions about honeymooning on the Wonder.

My only additional suggestion would be to skip the rental car and take the DCL bus. For 2 of you, it would be cheaper. It would save you the time and hassle of handling your luggage, picking up the rental car, etc. At port, you'd have to either pay to park the rental or return it then shuttle back to the port.

Normally, I like to travel under my own steam.....however, the DCL busses leave every 15-20 minutes at that time of day, and will have you checking in at the port 45 minutes after you leave the airport. THEY will claim your bags, and you won't see them from the time you board the plane till they arrive in your cabin.

I just don't see how renting the car could save you any time, and will definitely cost more. If cost isn't an issue, book a vehicle thru a private limo service. The driver will meet you in baggage check, claim your bags and take them to the vehicle, and allow you a 15 minute grocery/walmart stop if needed...and you'd still avoid the hassle of parking the rental or returning it. You can always get a rental at the port on the return if there are "after ship" plans.

kcashner...thanks for the tip on the buses...I was wondering, can you book transfers to be one-way? We're actually being picked up at the port on Thursday morning, and heading back to the World for a few days before heading home on Sunday. So, we'd only need DCL transfers from the airport to the port.
Also, can I book just the transfers through DCL or should I call my travel agent and have her book them??
Thanks for all the suggestions so far, guys!

DOn't know if this was answered for you, but you can book them one way. They are $25 pp. Call your TA and have him/her do it. As mentioned in another thread you won't have to deal with luggage at all using the tags provided.

I'm just going to have to use you as my vacation planner, TheWog!

Any insight on my other issue...when I try to book the things with my REAS package on a 4-nighters??

Thanks for the transfer info...seems like it might be easier than trying to rent a car!

Hi Sarah -- congratulations on booking your cruise. And on your upcoming wedding.

We also today just booked our 3 night land/4 night sea cruise. We are going in November.

I look forward to hearing how you liked it! Now I need to figure out how to put a Disney Trip countdown in my signature.

I haven't tried the REAS package yet, but from what I have found this is the lady to contact. She is supposed to be great and can handle any request you may have. Ask for her specifically. Good luck and congratulations on the wedding by the way. Have a great time.

Perfect, I think I will be giving the infamous Debbie a call!!

However, I'm not sure if I should wait...I don't even have my confirmation from my TA yet and I'm wondering if I'll need that before makign my reservations...

Give it a shot, they should have your name and sailing date. You should be fine.
