I thought Pirates was closed till July??

We were at MK on Thursday and POC was open. There was no wait either. I didn't see anything different, except the water cannons, after you go down the waterfall bit, actually hit us ans got us all wet. That was a first.

Is there a reason they have it open for now? Are they closing it back down? This is DH's favorite ride, so he was wondering about it.

I believe I saw another post that said they had it open for the busy Spring Break/Easter time, and would be closing it down.

We were there 4/8 and 4/13 with my great nephew who was visiting and we didn't even walk over there because I thought it was closed, until I read on here it was open! I was upset with myself that I didn't look at the times guide for closings!

We were there the 2 weeks before easter and it was closed still, I was surprised to see it opened last week b/c the park wasn't as crowded as it was the 2 weeks before Easter.

We were there on Tuesday also and we didn't even head that way b/c we thought it was closed. We just happened upon it on Thursday night b/c we were stuck in Advenureland thanks to the parade LOL

We were told when we were there that they would be closing down in May and then reopen in July. We were also surprised it was open when we were there.

The rehab was done in 2 phases, the first phase was basic rehab, flumes, boats, entrance que, etc (ride related maintenance). They re-opened it in April for the Easter holiday to eliviate some of the crowd. It closed again on May 1 and will be closed until July. During this phase of the rehab they will be doing the show elements. Adding the new animatronics and such.

Any thoughts of them opening it early like a soft opening kind of thing toward the end of May first of June. Its one of my favorite rides and I am sure gonna miss it on this trip, would love to see all the new stuff.

I would like to know this as well. We've only been to DW one other time and didn't get to ride then.

I doubt it will be re-opened for the end May/beg. June... It isn't scheduled to reopen until July 1. I wouldn't expect it until mid to late June for a soft opening.

FWIW, POTC at DL went down at about the same time as MK, but did not reopen for three weeks in April like MK did. There is a report that the POTC DL will have soft openings starting early June. I haven't heard anything about MK though. One can always hope...
