I thought bounce backs were the best offers...

Booked the bounce back in August of last year for fd this August. At that time, the promotion started on 8/26. Now that it's been released to the GP it's 8/23 and I believe I read the dates for Disney visa holders will be 8/14. I may get flamed for this but as repeat Disney guests it kind of annoys me.

I think the bounce back should always be the best dates/deal you can get. Besides waiting on the phone what is the incentive to book a bounce back?

Well, I think it could be expected to see some date slide. The BB you booked was assembled earlier in 2015, and didn't include near-term forecasts for 2016 booking. Dates probably extended based on number of BBs not booked.

No, Bounce Back offers were never designed to be the best discount. They were designed to reward guests with a guaranteed discount by booking a future trip during your current trip. No staying up all night waiting, hoping for Free Dining or a room only. No waiting for over an hour to get throught, etc.

The good thing about it is when a better discount comes out, you can always change.

I still think bounceback was better. I got my choice of resort and room category and even though it starts a few days later, my resort choice is more important to me. I checked the dates available to Disney visa as well as the GP dates and I wouldn't have been able to book what I wanted.

The terms aren't better than for the general public. The benefit is that you can get the discounted room several months in advance, rather than a max of 3-4 months in advance like you do with general public discounts. That lets you take full advantage of 180+10 ADRs, which is hard to do when waiting for a general public discount to come out. There is also usually more resort and room availability, for the same reason.

If you look at the bigger range of resorts that are available with a bounce back, then they are better. You can get POFQ and ASMo with a bounce back when they are always excluded from the general public offers. The room only discounts are always the same percentage for each resort level. The Beach Club and Poly have the same 30 or 35% off as the Yacht Club and Wilderness Lodge, for example. So when looking at it this way, they are better than general public offers in those respects.

Now in 2016 the room only bounceback offer has been a disappointment. They excluded weekends in January and February and excluded October and November. We were never able to use the room only bounceback this year.

We were also very disappointed that we were not able to get a RO bounceback for November. We love going to F&W. From the bounceback offer, I "read the writing on the wall" that there will possibly be no RO discounts for November offered by Disney, or be very limited, therefore I went ahead and booked with a travel agent and I am happy to say that we will be going in November for F&W.

I think the room only BB are better than those for the general public, at least if the dates work for you. I got 25% off value, 30% off mods and 35% off deluxe last time I was there. I thought that was a great deal. I have no interest in the dining plan though.

I'm so glad we booked a bounceback with free dining. It was about $3500 for a week at a Port Orleans Royal Room for 2 adults and 2 children (1 a disney adult.) We moved the date a few months ago, and bumped the trip to about $3700. I had also wanted to add a 5th person, but they said my only option would be to switch to a deluxe resort for $2000 more, so I just changed the dates and hoped to switch to this promotion if I could get a good deal on a room for 5.

I didn't learn that the free dining promotion had started until around 10 am, when almost all the moderates were booked for our week, and everything was much more expensive. The cheapest options for rooms for 4 were Saratoga Springs for $4800 and All Star Music for $2850 plus $574 to upgrade dining. But my husband doesn't want to sleep in a double bed, and we really don't want to stay at a value resort for a week. For 5 person rooms the cheapest were the Cabins at Fort Wilderness at $5300 and All Star Music at $4600 plus $574. The 3rd "cheapest" was the Grand Floridian at nearly $8500!

Maybe I could have found a comparable price to our bounceback at a moderate if I had been one of the first to discover this deal around 5 am, but I'm glad I wasn't counting on it.

The incentive of booking a bounceback is not having to wring hands and stay up all night like many folks did last night. You get to rest easy for a whole year knowing that your deal, and your room, is set and ready to go. You also know that you will have your pick of the litter when it comes to resorts and room types, instead of settling for what's left when you oversleep, or the phones crash, or the server takes a crap on the morning of the FD cattle stampeed.

Exactly. You know up to a year in advance what you are getting and it is guaranteed. Your Tate is locked in as well. Now if a better deal pops up, you can go through the process we all went though the other night to apply it. Once you make a change, if you had tix on teh package all rate changes go into effect, so be careful what you wish for.

EXACTLY

Bounce back just gives you the opportunity to lock in that discount a year before your trip. You did not have to spend the last 8 months wondering if free dining would be released, if your dates would be included or if the resort you wanted would be included.

Once the rate was released, you didn't have to spend the day trying to call CRO to snag a room.
