She gave my son John a whistle the other day. Why would people give this to your kids if they like you? I think when the boys are in bed tonight I'm going to get my boots on and "accidently" step on something.:p

LOL!!!!!

My sil, now ex-sil used to bring her boy over here all the time. Long story I won't get into. Anyway, he would want to play with the playdo a lot. No problem as long as he cleans up his mess. Well, repeatedly she would drag him home without giving him time to clean up his very big messes.

I gave him a bunch of playdo and playdo toys one Christmas. For some reason she gave me the dirtiest look. ;) lol

Well revenge I can understand. LOL

OMG Beccy...I'm reading this going - what the heck is a JOHN WHISTLE....I had to go back and read it again - gave your son John a whistle.....OMG - I need to wear my glasses!!!!!! ROFL

My brother use to do this to me...give my dd all nosey toys as gifts - cause he didn't have to be around when she played with them!!!!

I can remember once when DH and I were taking 5 kids and driving to Florida for two weeks!!!

The night before we left, DH's best friend came over with a bag of gifts for the kids - "to keep them busy" while we were driving.

Well...there were toy horns and drums and a tambourine, etc. in this bag. The kids were thrilled and DH told his friend that he'd find all of these items laying by the side of the road about 20 miles from home.;)

thats not a best friend, Patty its an evil friend!LOL

My oldest just told John if he blows that again he won't be seeing it.

one of my best friends, always, without exception, buys her 2 boys some toy that makes noise.... then has the nerve to get annoyed with the kids when they make noise (go figure)! that to me is just crazy....

My oldest nephew is 20 and my SIL still talks about the time I gave him a construction helmet with a red siren and light on top when he was about 2. He LOVED that thing! I thought it was so cute, of course I was kidless at the time.

So Kallison what awful gifts did you get in return?

Kevin is one smart kid. He gave John an apple and we haven't heard the whistle since!:p

DH and I have often taken great delight in finding the most annoying, noisy toys for our nieces/nephews and friends' children. :teeth: Gotta love whoever invented Hungry, Hungry Hippos. :smooth:

And we start young. Case in point: DH "tests" to discover the loudest rattle in the store. :p :p :p

I don't mind the noisy toys...I send DD to her room to play with them. What I don't like is the leggos. Do you know how much it HURTS to step on those things with your bare feet?!?!?! Someone got DD a set last Christmas and even though I tell her (repeatedly) to pick them up when she's done, they somehow remain scattered on the floor. And when you're up at 3am getting a drink of water, those things are practicaly invisable! I have threatened several time to throw away any leggos I find on the floor...that works for a while but then she eventually forgets the threat and they'll end up back on the floor again.

LOL this is bringing back memories!!

A whistle is pretty hard to get rid of BUT if he ever gets a drum just causally ask him if he knows where the sound comes from ( one cut of the drum and it is garbage time hehehe)

My 'baby' brother used to do the same thing with my boys, Chris!!! LOL Drove me nuts!!! But what comes around goes around because my brother now has a 2 and 4 year old and I LOVE to go toy shopping for his little ones!!!:jester:

This brings back memories of when younger DS was in 1st grade. Our school had a fresh out of college speech therapist. I picked up both boys from school since I had errands to run in a town about 30 minutes away.....about 4 minutes into the ride I hear this awful shrill whistle. Well, it seems the speech therapist had interviewed all the first graders and determined which ones needed a little strengthening in their speech. She gave DS 5 (no typo there 5) different kinds of whistles. I was sooooooo mad. Not only did she give him the whistle with strict instructions to practice every day but one was to be pulled out of his mouth while he was blowing into it. This really upset me since I had just paid $1000 over the previous year getting all his dental work done. After a conference with his regular teacher we decided DS was just shy and had no speech problems.

My sister still thinks I hate her. All because I gave her identical twin sons a drum set when they were two years old.

I was childless! What did I know?
