So I'm in the middle of baking some cookies yesterday for our cookie swap. I'm making chocolate sandwich cookies. I made the cookie part already but I think there was a misprint on the recipe in the cookbook for the frosting part. It listed the ingredients as...

8 oz of cream cheese softened
3-4 cups of powered sugar
1/2 tsp of vanilla extract

Then I go on to read the instructions and it says....

Beat cream cheese AND BUTTER, then add powdered sugar and vanilla.

WTH, it never mentioned butter in the ingredients. Question is....am I supposed to have butter and they just forgot to add it in the ingredient list, if so, how much do I need. OR am I NOT supposed to have butter but they added the mistake into the instructions?

AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!! Help. I'm supposing the frosting needs to be a little stiffer than normal since I'm putting it between two cookies, no? Just for reference, the cookbook that I'm using is Taste of Home's Best Loved Cookies & Bars, page 134 "Chocolate Sandwich Cookies" (it has a picture of snowman cookies along with a couple other various cookies)

Yes, I think it's a basic butter cream frosting with cream cheese.

You are up in the middle of the night making cookies?:lmao:

And yes it was probably a misprint in the ingredient list.

No, actually made the cookies yesterday....I was up in the middle of the night posting my message (I get up that early to go to work) LOL

But I made the frosting using a block of cream cheese, 1/2 stick of butter, tsp of vanilla and a 1 lb box of powdered sugar. Came out pretty tasty!!!

Doesn't it drive you crazy when something like that happens? :headache:

Glad they turned out yummy..:santa:

i would have used a whole stick of butter for 8 oz of cream cheese, but otherwise you got it!

It seems like a good bit of the taste of home recipes are online. If you trying googling "taste of home <insert proper recipe name here>" you should come up with it.

There were three listed under TOH, the first were red & green filled sandwich cookies.

Glad everything worked out though. I hate when that happens (or when you ask someone for a recipe and they are turkeys and deliberately leave out an important ingredient).

Oh OK. LOL Glad to hear it came out OK.:thumbsup2

Did you check to see if the butter was included in the cookie part of the recipe? Sometimes they will put something like 2 cups butter in the first part of the recipe and then in the instructions for the first part it will say to use 1 cup so you have the rest left over for the 2nd part.
