I think it may be time to say goodbye to Disney

What would you recommend they do to reduce crowds, especially given putting the price up isn't an option for you?

Ummmm..... I'm sure Disney has entire departments devoted to increasing crowds.

And I don't think the PP was asking them to decrease the crowds. Only saying they were trying different times of year, and if they didn't find it less crowded would start vacationing elsewhere. I doubt that's a very unusual reaction.

I'm with the OP. Probably because we've gone every year with a minimum stay of 10 nights/11 days since 2006, this year the flame on the candle was pretty much snuffed. Very crowded in August, which has not usually been the case, plus we've done just about everything we want to do. Maybe in 2 or 3 years' time we'll go back, perhaps the family dynamic will have changed, but next year seems to be a "take a break" year. We're planning another trip to Yellowstone and surrounding areas, and we'll go from there. I have a huge trip to China coming up soon and I'm really looking forward to that.

Wow, this is SO much like us it's scary, LOL. Been doing 10 night trips since 2007. Sometimes twice a year. We usually go in August and have enjoyed lower crowd levels, and great weather. The past year or two it's been MUCH more crowded than usual, and frankly, I think were burning out on it. We have a bounce back booked for next year, August again, but I think it will be our last for maybe 2-3 years. We booked it as it is also our 25th wedding anniversary, and wanted to make sure we are somewhere we truly love, and are familiar with. Were also staying at our favorite resort, the Wilderness Lodge, so that's a huge plus just for hanging out.

All that aside, we love WDW. However, I think it is time to start spending money elsewhere, and seeing something else for a while. We'll be back for sure, but some recent shorter trips we have done are beckoning us to see more of the country we live in; particularly the southwest areas as well the old favorites such as Yellowstone, Yosemite etc.

I honestly do not see how some people can go every year for 3,4,5+ years. :confused3

My family absolutely LOVES WDW, but even we have to mix it up a little. I mean, we went to US/IOA and we liked that, too! We also like going on cruises (We did a Disney cruise and that was fun. But we also did cruises that were not Disney.)

Oh, and earlier this year- we went to an all-inclusive in Mexico and had a blast!

But check this out: That doesn't make you a bad person. It doesn't lessen your Disney-Devotion. As for us, we'll probably go to WDW next year. Of not, definitely the year after that! But give it a chance to be missed first, IMHO. Some people act like their relationship with Disney is more of a marriage and less as a vacation destination.

Being locked out of our room upon our return just before midnight, waiting at the front desk in a line for 32 mins before I was able to talk with someone, waiting another 46 mins for someone to show up at our door to let us in, another 23 mins for them to return with new room keys, getting about 3 hours of sleep, then waiting in line at the front desk in the morning to reset magic bands with new info kinda made our decision a little easier.

definitely time to take a break and hopefully the next time we return so will the magic.

We once took a 6 year hiatus from WDW and did a bunch of other things - cruises, all inclusive resorts, dude ranch, Florida vacation where we branched out and did/saw a lot of the other things Florida has to offer, Toronto, etc. We had a fantastic time on all of these trips and really didn't miss WDW at all.

We went back in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012 and we're now ready for a break again. When I starts to lose the magic its time to try something else. You can always go back at some later point in time.
