I just read the answers to my post over on the theme park attractions and strategies board and I'm totally confused!!
I asked if changing resorts would effect my park passes and found out it does!!!! People did suggest what to do,but it just seems like WAY too much work trying to figure it out!! I think
I should give Dreams Unlimited another look....
Kinda bummed!!

 airhead ~ I don't understand how changing resorts affects your park passes. If you have a PH it doesn't matter where you stay or if you stay at more than one resort. LOS passes should be fine as long as you are staying at a Disney resort.

It is kind of confusing with checking in and out of different resorts and obtaining UPH's. Don't you end up double paying for the day you check out of one resort and into another? (Unless you get them to take off the first day of the UPH for your second resort)

Good luck.

It does seem easier just to stay at one resort.

Have you thought about just buying PH's or do you want the UPH?

When are you going and where are you thinking of staying?

I'm totally bummed because I really thought it would be easy to
do all the planning myself. Now,I'm not sure! Our trip is next summer(I know,I've got lots of time!! Good thing!!!) I was planning 2 nights AKL concierge so we could do the safari(already have my reservations) and then over to the Dolphin for
8 nights. I thought I read somewhere that I could by UPH for the number of nights we're staying. I want the tickets that include
all the parks, water parks,DisneyQuest with unlimited visits. I want to buy my tickets before I leave home. I'm wicked confused
now.....

I'm not sure if you can get an UPH if you stay at the Dolphin or Swan but someone else might know.

Anyway, if you can not get UPH's there then you have 2 other options:

--Get a 7-day park hopper plus which would give you 7 days in the parks & 4 pluses which you could use at the water parks, Disney Quest, Pleasure Island & Wide World of Sports.

--Get a Premium Annual Pass which gives you unlimited use of all the 4 Disney Parks, Water Parks, Disney Quest, Pleasure Island & Wide World of Sports for 365 days. If you are going to use them for 8 or more days they are a good value.

You should probably post another question on this board about whether you can get UPH's if you stay at the Swan or Dolphin. I'm not too sure about that myself.

Once you get some of your main questions answered the planning isn't that overwhelming - in fact that's half of the fun of the trip. :p

Hey Airhead!
I would call Disney direct with your questions about the passes!
Im sure there is way it would work.
I would figure length of stay would be from the day you checked into AKL till the end of the day you check out(closing of the parks), then from the day you check in to Dolphin till the day you check out. If you are talking hoppers then it wouldnt matter where you were staying.
dont get frustrated.:)

We got UPH Passes at the Dolphin last summer. There is a Disney Guest Relations desk in the Dolphin lobby. You can only buy UPH passes at the resorts not at Disney Store or online at Disney website.

Think about buying 2 sets of PHPlus passes at the Disney store that will cover your 10 days and any days you don't use won't expire. I know that a 4 day PH (not a plus) is about $200 for an adult. A PHPlus gives you the water parks, Disney Quest and Pleasure Island. I guess it would take some research to compare costs - PHP vs UPH.

airhead,

This is Mrs. A, I can't believe what I just read. Don't give up on planning this on your own. You have plenty of time, just take it nice and slow. Planning is alot of fun. I know you can do it and you will be glad you did.

You can purchase your tickets thru AAA also with a small discount.
I know they have the hopper passes and with the pluses also.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

For a 10 day stay you can just get the annual passport
sometimes its cheaper than the unlimited passes

think about if you really will use the water parks that much

with a pool at the hotel you might not

it depends on if this is your first trip - if so there is so much
you might not really use disneyquest/water parks that much

i had a premium annual pass but that trip (10 days) we only went to one water park one time.

I now get annual passes and pay separately for the water park.
The annual pass gets you a slight discount (think its 3.00 on water park admission)

It depends on if you have kids, what age they are and what time of year you are going.

Check the website disboards or wdwig.com
i think one of them has a comparison chart to check cost.

I do al my own planning, but still use Dreams Unlimited for the hotel reservations. The planners can help with so much, from PS to advise on what to do when.

I just let them know what I want and when I want it. Never had a problem getting Cinderella's Royal Table either. And I don't have to do all the hard stuff or pay for the phone calls.

You're helping to support the staff; it doesn't cost you anything and they get a commission.

Have a great time!

With great advice!!! Mrs A, I knew if you read my post I was gonna catch it good!! Ok,you guys are right. I won't throw in the towel.....yet!!! And Snackystacky,if you read this , THANKS SO MUCH!!!!! You're a doll!

Don't panic!!! While I usually love planning everything myself, I did use DU this time. That said, if you choose to still do it yourself, I would suggest that you do one of two things: either buy two 5 day Park Hopper Pluses for everyone in your group (what you don't use, you can use on a later trip) or buy annual passes for everyone. If you plan on using DisneyQuest or the water parks more than 4 times, then the premium annual pass would make sense. It is about $120 more than the regular one and it's about $30 each for a water park or DQ, each visit. So, have fun planning. I think that 1/2 the fun of WDW is in the planning!!

Just keep in mind, Disney Quest in NOT included on Park Hoppers or Park Hopper Pluses. ~:D~

I can work myself up quite a bit about stuff! I took the weekend to really look at what we want from our passes. You guys were right. The water parks are nice, but we would probably only go once. We will have the pools and we will be spending one whole day at Discovery Cove. DisneyQuest is one of MY favorite places, but not my friend's favorite place. We probably could get away with going once. I guess I just want the option of doing EVERYTHING when I want. We definitely want the flexibilty of being able to visit any park as many times as we want while being at WDW. And I don't want to buy 2 sets of passes. Its a good thing I have a year to plan!!!!!!! You guys are gonna see my posts and run for the hills this upcoming year!!!! Can't say I blame you!!!!

thanks to all of you!
CJ

Airhead, dont be an airhead!! Try looking into the annual passes. They are good for one year after the first day that you use them and its a good value for the amount of days your likely to need tickets. Plus, if you may be going again before a full year is up, its an even greater value!!

Oh,you made me laugh!!! I guess I should've come back to this post to update my plans! I AM getting AP's!! Its absolutely the right passes for us!!

CJ(always an airhead!)

Hi airhead.
If you plan on only doing WDW for the 10 days you will be there you might want to check out AP & PAP prices, they might actually save you money.
