I think Im getting old

Take Mission Space, it creates the G forces by spinning you in a big circle, but the screen that you watch in the capsule is giving you the sense that your moving in a forward motion. Your eyes are telling your brain that your moving forward, but your body is telling it that you're moving in a circle, as a result of the conflict, yup, your stomach says, this is not good.

The non rotating version takes away one of forces and everything is fine.

Teamubr you can't just leave it there. How does one "train" ears to tolerate motion sickness? Although I only suffer mildly from it and mine is mostly stress induced, I would still love to know how to get rid of it. I want to be able to ride expedition everest when my daughter gets old enough.

Will Soarin make me sick?

I get sick on everything (always have), but DH is a huge coaster enthusiast. He's just noticed a difference the past couple of years - He doesn't tolerate the coasters like he used to. We were up at Cedar Point last month, and a guy in front of him in line for Millennium Force was 75 years old! I was very impressed! ;)

Yep. You're getting old. Same thing happened to me. First it was the teacups. Then Mission Space. Then Expedition Everest. And, now, I even have issues with the Rockin' Rollercoaster. I never used to have any problems with dizziness. But, now I do. But, I press through it. If you don't, then you're just an old geezer.

TCD

Yep, I agree with TCD. I use to ride everything. The last time on Space Mountain I started feeling very nauseous. It's a drag getting old. The most I can handle now is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Other than that, it's Pirates, Haunted Mansion and Peter Pan's Flight (one of my favorite rides). I guess I'm getting to be an old geezer.

In the past couple years the rides have taken some tolls on me lol. SM feels like riding a coaster with square wheels. Always has really. R&R used to be my favorite but I very rarely ride it. I can still handle T of T. Everest from what I hear has been slowed down. Can anyone confirm that? I remember DD and I used to go commando in the parks, we even did morning EMH so we could hit the thrill rides.

Man, I better get off this computer and go for a run or something. I gotta get back in shape. I can't be 44 and retired from Disney rides dang it. If you think WDW rides are tough go over to US/IOA. I feel an inch from death after the Hulk.

Sorry, I was trying not to be too medical. What I meant was to increasingly doing things that will give you that sick feeling to acclimate your ears/brain. Motion sickness is usually a disconnect between what you see and what your brain senses.

I will preface all this with, there isn't anything documented that acclimating yourself to the motion will help. I know it seems to work for me when I'm racing. I do something similar to the Epley Maneuver, except when I'm in motion. It's a treatment for vertigo. If you Google it, you'll find quite a bit.

I did look up non-medical preventions. Chewing gum and ginger were the things that came up most often. Staring at the horizon is mentioned, but that's tough on Rockin' Roller Coaster.

People I know (my wife) that get motion sick easily, have not had any problems on Soarin'. It's mostly slow gradual movements. And it's a blast.

J,
Mine is a weird case. For instance, I rode the Tea Cups last June no problem but next time it could. I can't play certain 3-D games and being in the passenger/back seat can (but not always) make me sick. Mine seems to have a lack of predictability. It started after a car wreck... anyway thanks for the info. Now I am off to google it and see what I can find out!
