You will notice to the left under the poster's name some people have clips of something they've said in a post. This is the elusive tag fairy that is amused by something someone has said and puts it between the name and the avatar. If you have more than one they will be different colors.

A while back someone was asking about the tag fairy and spiceycat told the poster that the tag fairy doesn't post here on the DVC boards. The tag fairy found that amusing and gave spiceycat the tag "Thinks the tag fairy doesn't post here" or something like that.

I don't have a tag what you see under my name is something I put there, but if you scroll back up and look at elijapep you will see a tag (I think).

Many people ask and beg for a tag, but the tag fairy seems unamused by such requests.

Ok...just so I understand...there's a "Tag Fairy" who adds tags under people's names....

But we can't tell from looking at a person's "Tag" whether a poster added the tag themselves or if they were tagged by the Tag Fairy?

No, I think it was the tag fairy because of the cloud nine which is in color. Congrats!

The tag fairy must really like very light colors too because I can hardly read your tags BCV23. Esp that first one. Must be something only special fairies can read. You know, like how dogs can hear sounds people can't.

I was tagged once. The first one I put there and the fairy put it in color. That one can go and be replaced with something else. I am to afraid to delete it in fear I might get rid of my real tag about beating my hubby in a debate. That HAS to be there as it is a very memorable occasion

Yes, I know. In fact, I can't see the first one at all. There are three of them or at least there were. When I changed to a new...um, server, I think???....I couldn't see my tags at all. So I asked on the tech board. Someone there tried to help me. Then I logged on my DHs computer and the tags were there. I guess a firewall or something prevented me from seeing them. Anyway, as the Tech person tried to help me, he tweaked the colors to get back to the originals. The tags were originally pastels but now are so light that I have trouble seeing them. But I'm just happy to have tags....they're a fun bit of DIS magic. And the Tech person, a fellow DVCer if I remember correctly, was very patient with my troubles.

That must have been quite the debate.

Oh, the TF has been VERY active recently! I got ALL THREE of these tags just on Friday! And s/he even posted to me directly (the TF is of questionable gender...actually, s/he stated that there are multiple TFs). There is a very long thread on the Community Board right now called "Profile of a Tag Fairy." And the Update on P. 265 is the interesting part.

GREAT tag Grammy! And yes, it is most certainly a tag! And the reason your text is black is because there are only so many characters that can be in a tag and the html code needed for color takes up characters...but the code needed for the Cloud 9 can really eat up space...so that is a particularly special tag! Whenever your tage contains more than just words, it is very special indeed!

Were you on another board? Or only here on the DVC Boards? Very interesting....
