I think I might want another child but.....

:goodvibes I love you guys!

I was at Thanksgiving on Thrusday and of course, got the "your next" speech from my neice who just had a baby 3 months ago. I just thought of all of you and just smiled at her.

The thing that made me realize that I am right and they are not, was I held my 3 month old great-neice. I love her to pieces and she is the cutest thing ever. I really enjoyed feeding her and talking to her, but I just had absolutely NO desire to have one myself. Not even a little twinge. In the car on the way home DH said the same thing to me. That she was really cute but he did not want another.

So I guess we just need to follow what we think is right and not listen to everyone else. If they want to come live with me and take care of the kid, then I am all for it. But until then, they can just mind their own business.

I had this moment of realization not too long ago. My BF just had a baby, and I was holding her and feeding her and she smelled that great baby smell, she told me I looked great doing all this, but I was also glad to giver her back too and I figure if I need my fix I will head over there but I am good long term. Now if God overrides the pill then I will deal with my family growing and love that child dearly but hey for now Im good.

I guess I just keep seeing brothers and thinking that I am robbing my son of that. Realistically, I know that having another will not secure him having a friend or even a brother. I think I am just feeling kind of down today about it. I keep hearing from people that some of the things he does (not using his words well) is because he is "the only one at home" I feel like I am doing something wrong.:sad1:

It's funny, I heard that, too, before we added to our family. It used to tick me off something fierce!!!

The bottom line is whether or not you are happy. Not to mention, this is not a choice that needs to be made today. I had a harder time with dd at age 3 than I did at any other time. Back then I thought she would be an only forever! Of course, PPD is no joke and your not wanting to go through it again is understandable. Take your time and realize this is a decision only between you and your dh, no one else should be getting involved.

Good luck!

FYI -- I feel the SAME way you do. My son is 2.5 (will be 3 in February) and right now, I really think he'll be our one and only. I was an only and always thought I'd have an only. DH was one of two and now that we have one, he's happy with just one. I do not have "baby lust" or any inkling of wanting another. Seeing people with one and then a set of twins makes me break out in a cold sweat (I'm sure that is what would happen to me if we decided to go for a second baby!). I have days JUST LIKE YOURS where I think I "should" have another one "for" my DS. I never get the feeling that I just want or need another baby. If I ever do get that feeling, then maybe we'll do something about it. Until then, DS is my perfect one and only!

Oh yeah, I am not mentally unstable either, but some days my ONE drives me CRAZY!!! :headache: I can't imagine chasing after any more!!
