Please take a minute and see if you can find a flaw in my numbers....

*LAUGH*
Now, I know no trip to WDW is a bargin but with the new ticket prices I have had to really do some number crunching to make sure I'm getting the best value for my buck. We are DVC owner so I know we will be returning to WDW so any 'leftover' days or plusses on tickets are appreciated here!

here's the situation... me, DH, DS7 & DD5. First trip to WDW for the kids.

Using a special newsletter deal I can get:

2 adult 7 day PHP/4 for $640 ~ ($320 each, includes tax and shipping)
2 child 7 day PHP/4 for $510 ~ ($255 each, includes tax and shipping)
total for tickets = $1150

If I did the Advance purchase of MYW with MAGIC HOPPER OPTION (with NO plusses) it would be:
2 adult 7 day MYW for $474 ~ ($237 each, includes tax)
2 child 7 day MYW for $396 ~ ($198 each, includes tax)
No expiration $234 ($58.58 times 4 tickets)
Total would be $1104 and I'd still have to buy the water passes (Plusses)

So the difference in the two tickets is $46 and 16 plusses (4 tickets each with 4 pluses). That makes each plus worth $2.88

So, I'm going to buy the 7 day PHP/4plusses and really enjoy my bargin $2.88 admission 'cost' to the water parks!

So, It looks like to old way is definatley the better choice and value for my family. I wish I had the money and I'd buy several of these for future trips.

Just thought I'd share my 'bargin'
Shari

Hey Shari, I'm glad that I used the newsletter deal and purchased the 5 day hoppers with the 4 plus options before they stopped selling them.

I too am considering urchasing additonal hoppers before they pull them off the market.

I did a little further number crunching and this is what I found:

7 day Adv. MYW fully loaded (hopping, 5 plusses and no expiration)
$49.14 per day including tax. I assign no value to plus options just theme park days.

7 day (newsletter price) Park Hopper Plus (hopping, 4 plusses NO DQ OR PI, and no expiration)
$45.71 per day including tax and shipping.

So for 3.43 extra per day (3.43 x 4= 13.72) times 7 days (13.72x7=$96.04) you could pick up DisneyQuest, Pleasure Island and 4 more plusses.

If your family will not use the extra plusses or DQ or PI, then I would go for the hoppers and use the $96 saved on something else you will enjoy.

Your children are young will they be able to do a whole day in the swim parks?? If not why not buy the after 3:00pm reduced price tickets?? And save??

Now my head is spinning!!!

So is this how the 7 day Adv. MYW fully loaded (hopping, 5 plusses and no expiration) would break down for us as:

2 adult 7 day MYW premium(hop & 5 plusses) for $570 ~($285 each, includes tax)
2 child 7 day MYW premium(hop & 5 plusses) for $492 ~($246 each, includes tax)
No expiration $234 ($58.58 times 4 tickets)
Total would be $1296

So, am I doing it wrong but wouldn't the 4 addition plusses with the MYW end up 'costing' us an additional $146? (36.50 each)

Sorry about all this but I'm so afraid that I might be missing an important factor.

Sorry to get off the subject, but I am wondering what Newsletter deal you guys are talking about... I am a DVC member at BW, VWL, and HH and I don't remember any newsletter deals on tickets... can you guys shed some light on those ticket deals? I only get an online DVC update, but never any newsletter in the mail... am I missing out on something? If it isn't appropriate for the board, feel free to email me directly: mikeemwse@aol.com

I'm not overly sure, but can't DVC owners get a pass for $100 off making it about $290 for a premier pass? and wouldn't THAT be cheaper than the 7 day OR new tickets?
Of course, if you don't go but 6 days a year, I guess it wouldn't be such a good deal.
Just thought I 'd throw this into the mix to be even more confusing...LOL

It's $100 off an AP. So you really need to go for more than 10 days before it would be a better deal.

You can get the same tickets at Hotwire Savings Club for $302.90 Adult and $242.51 child delivered.

Unless I'm missing something on these particular newsletter tickets, park hopper plusses include PI as one of the plus options.

As posted above, you can get the 7day PHP for only 302.90 Adult and 242.50 Child from Hotwire Savings club. Even cheaper than your 'newsletter' deal. This would be the least expensive option for you.

Shari,
I did a further comparison. Yes HSC would be your cheapest option for PHP passes. Do you have a membership?

And Shannon is correct, PHP's do include PI.

The Advanced Purchase 7 day MYW ticket loaded with Hopping, 5 Plus Options, and No expiration would cost 344 Adults and 304.60 for child all taxes included.

Your cost would be 2X344.00=688.00 and 2X304.60=609.20 for a total of $1297.20.

If you purchased from HSC the Advanced Purchased 7 day PHP ticket with Hopping 4 options (No DQ) and No expiration would cost 302.90 Adults and 242.51 child all taxes included.

Your cost would be 2X302.90=605.80 and 2X242.51=485.00 for a total of $1090.80.

The difference is 206.40 saved in favor of the HSC PHP.

So you could use the newsletter special to purchase 10 admissions to DQ for what you will be saving. So yes, you did find a bargain and your calculations were within $1.

As a matter of fact, the only way to save money with the MYW tickets 7 day or less tickets is to leave off an option when you are comparing them to PHP's. I like Hopping, the Plusses and the No expiration so I will be stocking up on PHP's for our next trip.
