Our Final Day (November 9th).
DH got up super early (dragging his sorry behind the whole way since he was up half the night packing) because I had arranged for him to do the Richard Petty driving experience.
I got up and mooned a bit about it being our last day of such a magical trip. I went out to the balcony and I realized I hadn't yet taken a photo of it.
Isn't that amazing? If you're curious, we were in room 4530 at BC, and there was nobody above us or next to us on either side. It's a bit of a trek to get to it, but if you anticipate making a bit of noise and want the World's longest deck to hang out on . . .
Here's the view
Finished packing and went to catch a cab to the Disney Race Track. We should have known something was up when the cab driver hesitated about the location, but he swore he knew where it was. Three sets of directions and 2 turn arounds later, we arrive with about 30 seconds to spare. He was nice, but I really dislike it when cab drivers lie about knowing where a destination is. I lived in NYC for almost 10 years, and around those parts, that's a hangin' offense.
My hubby was already there, all decked out in his jumpsuit.
He had spent the previous 90 minutes prepping to drive a racecar 125 miles an hour around a one mile track. And boy, did he. From what other people said, even the "ride along" experience is worth the money. My Uber MIL wants to do it (the actual driving, not the "ride along") the next time we go to WDW. She's so cool.
After the event, we packed up and went to Chef Mickeys where we had the most chaotic and mediocre character breakfast yet. Where the characters at Crystal Palace are methodically rotated through the rooms, Mickey and his friends were like darting grasshoppers. A few photographs later,
we were ready to leave and say goodbye to MIL
who was visiting relatives in other parts of Florida. We left our bags with the concierge and schlepped to Epcot for a few rides.
Overhearing the word Soarin coming from our party, a woman turns to us and says dont bother, theres a 3 hour wait. Hmmm. Must have been an early magic hour day at Epcot. Or maybe New Jersey week has started to wreak havoc. In any case, we have limited time, and we're not spendin' it looking at all those pictures we ran past earlier in the trip!
At Test Track a kid hands us 2 Fast Passes which are good for right now, so K and I do one last run (thank you, random kid!) and we head to the fountains next to Imagination.
Where K meets more kids to play with, and some adults, too. One thing I haven't mentioned about my daughter is that she, unlike me, really really likes meeting and interacting with new people. They are all her new best friends. And I know you all are thinking that's great - but it really wears me out. Not that I don't love the people of the planet, I just don't need to take them all back to my hometown. Needless to say, that caused a bit of conflict between us during the trip. With her saying "you don't let me talk to ANYBODY" and me saying "No, you just don't need to talk to EVERYBODY".
Well, at least we both liked Art the Greeter.
Then we went mucking about at Imagination, which is just one giant advertisement for Kodak, and its time for us to say our final goodbyes. Weve been here long enough that even my daughter is ready to go, shes had enough and thats a sign that it really is time to go before we outlast our Disney attitude. Or develop a new, less magical, attitude.
We arrive at the airport to find that our flight is delayed. The skycap gets us and our luggage on an earlier flight, I overtip him and we sprint to the gate just to find out that our airplane and crew are all in position, but its been raining so hard in NJ that they wont let us leave the airport. So we sit and sit some more, waiting for clearance.
Hubby is a platinum member of the airline because he travels for work so much, he gets upgraded and gives me what was (I thought) my final magical moment I sit in first class (yes, I know, but it's my one consolation prize for him being gone so many weekends) while he and our daughter go in coach. Fortunately, they get a row to themselves and both are sound asleep when I check on them in the middle of the flight. We arrive home close to midnight and my daughter desperately crawls into bed. All it took was 9 days of non-stop Disney magic and she finally wants to sleep.
Okay - we are at the bitter end. But I bring you back to the romantic night spent with my Dh. You know, all that good food, wine, pixie dust can go to a girl's head. Soooooooo. I will NOT be returning for the half-marathon in January as I had planned, as . . . . . . . . . .it's a bad idea for a pregnant woman to overheat.
What a super end to a super trip!
Wishing everyone (especially Declan's dad, for actually following my whole drawn out thread) a super holiday season filled with Disney Magic.
