I am reusing this title from an old thread I found, last time someone posted on it was back in 2007. I am turning 38 this yr and think I have lots of the symptoms of perimenopause and it's starting to drive me nuts. The only symptoms I don't seem to have are hot flashes and migraines. Thank god for small miracles!! I am still getting my period so I know it's not full on menopause.

I am seeing my Dr this month for my yearly check-up and am going to ask for a hormone test to see if it's possible. I just wanted to put this out there and see how many other women can relate, you know that misery loves company. :headache:

LOL - I went off the pill in December, and have yet to see AF (went on it because I was getting hit hard, plus very irregular, after having a 28 day cycle my entire life). I just turned 43.

I know I am as I don't sleep, moody, etc. Dr. mentioned it last year when I went - actually I need to make an appt. I get extremely tired right before I do get it to the point I can't keep my eyes open at 6 p.m.

I can relate. My periods started going haywire a couple years ago and I started having symptoms I've never had before. I am on the pill to try to control that but those cause side effects too. I turn 40 this month. Can't wait to see what comes next.

What a rude question! Do I look like I can relate? :sad1: :headache:

Count yourself very lucky if your symptoms don't include hotflashes or migraines. I could handle the insomnia, moodiness, etc. if it wasn't for those. Hope you find a better solution than I have and feel more yourself very soon.

YES...hang on I forgot what the OP said.....YES I CAN RELATE. Can't you tell? I am cranky, forgetful, irregular, migraines etc etc etc. I will be 44 in 2 months god help us all:lmao:

Yep the moodiness doesn't bother me as much as it bothers my DH :rotfl: I asked him last night if he has noticed me getting moodier lately, poor guy looked like a deer caught in the headlights. :scared1: I promised him he wouldn't get in trouble just tell me the truth, :rotfl2: I want to know if it's just me thinking these things or if other people can see a difference.

I have always had a problem with insomnia so that one doesn't bother me that much either. Luckily we don't have kids, so if I need a nap I can take one without a problem. One thing really bothers me is the sudden onset of anxiety. One minute I am just going along happy as a clam and the next I have a feeling of dread and then I feel cruddy for the rest of the day and I just can't shake it.

I can relate. :)

I'm 44. I started having irregular, heavier periods about 3 years ago I think. I tried the pill and it didn't help and I got more mirgraines. Then the doctor suggested the Mirena. My periods are much lighter but still irregular. Never know when I'll get them. :(

I do not have hot flashes (yet), I do have migraines but I never knew that was a sign of menopause. I also getting more forgetful. Not sure if that is related. I don't think I'm moody (yet). :goodvibes

Anyway, I can relate. I'm not looking forward to the hot flashes and moodiness!!

My peri-menopausal symptons at 44 (tired, cold, couldn't lose weight) turned out to be pregnancy...watch out!!

Now I'm peri-menopausal again with a 2 year old. No hot flashes but honestly, I'd trade the heart palpitations for hot flashes. At least I'd be able to drink caffeinated coffee again.

My best advice: go see the play Menopause the Musical. It will make you laugh and feel better after everything that's happening. :)

I am 45 and full on peri.:lmao:

When I turned around 42 my muscle tone just went south. Now I did exercise back then. However since moving back to MO from TX, we got really lazy and my muscle is GONE. So OP exercise if you can.

I have minor hot flashes, nothing severe yet.

The biggest problem I am having is dryness of my sinuses. Good news is a cold does not stand a chance, bad news is my nose and throat are so dry. I have to constantly drink liquids, use eyedrops, lotions, & ocean nose spray to keep "hydrated". Winter is murder on me.

I also have heart palpatations. Is that related? What have you heard PP?

First, go to a cardiologist and get them checked out. I did, as at times I felt my each crazy heartbeat was going to be my last. Ack. Anyway, my heart is fine. Supposedly, heart palpitations come from fluctuating hormone levels in peri-menopausal women. I cut out all caffeine (during the entire month, not just sometimes as I was trying before) and try to exercise more regularly. I also added fish oil vitamins. For the most part it helps.

I had hormone testing done, and yes I am in the middle of it now. I am very lucky that I don't have hot flashes or migraines. I did have a period of about 6 months where I got overly warm, but not an attack of hot flash. I do seem to have some depression and lethargy...and I am gaining weight. My internist gave me meds for the depression and also I have started cholesterol meds. So I don't know if my weight gain is caused by any of the meds, or possibly the fact that I can't seem to get my big butt up and go for a walk..instead of sitting down and eating everything in sight!

I am 52, so I guess I am also lucky it took so long to set in for me.

I am with you. I am forgetful, have occasional hot flashes, moody. I do have heart palpitations too. I have had those for a couple of years now. I am on medication for them and I have cut out caffeine. My doctor says they aren't hormone related, but I do still occasionally get them and it sure seems either hormone related or stress related.

Oh yes, how could I FORGET about my forgetfulness?:lmao: Seriously, I can't keep a thought in my head, and I forget things constantly. I would almost think I have onset Alzheimer's.

Well I'm 42 and maybe that is why I'm so moody~Guess I should bring it up at the next doctor appointment!!! I have had my period since I was 8 so I am so ready for it to be done!!! And Yes you did read that right 8!!!!

I actually think I'm there too. I'll be 42 in June. I have occasional hot flashes, and I'm still menstruating pretty regularly. My periods have become very heavy and I am crampy which I never had before. I am EXHAUSTED and EMOTIONAL!! I am ALWAYS tired, I don't sleep well at night, and I wake up in a full sweat. There are mornings that I am soaked. I seem to cry at everything lately. I feel totally hormonal, like when I was pregnant. (I know I'm not pregnant...)

My annual exam is in July, so I'm going to discuss everything with my dr. and see what's up. I don't know if there is anything that they can do for the symptoms. Right now it's somewhat manageable.

I wish I would have had time to ease into menopause , but unfortunately not. I am on Lupron which shuts your system down. UGHHH , migraines, hot flashes and insomnia OH LORD!!! The only thing I am not having is real mood swings , hubby actually says I am more even tempered than before LOL.

I am right there with the rest of you. Turn 45 in April. The last 8 months my periods are so heavy I just want to stay in the house for 6 days. I used to have a great period, 3 days, no cramping and one heavy day. NOT ANYMORE. I am moody, and mad...all the time. I don't have hot flashes but that may be due to the fact that I can't sleep..insomina is the worst. My body has decided that I need max 6 hours or less a day. Around 5 I can barely keep my eyes open to 6. I have been known to go to the school to pick up my son 20 minutes early just so I can nap in the car while I am waiting for him!

And surely the forgetfulness. I will have forgotten I even made this post in approximately 5 seconds after I hit the 'post message' button!:lmao: My only saving grace is that I have learned how to cover it up by using the old line "Right, I remember that conversation" when literally the kids and my employees could be getting away with murder.

I would encourage everyone to also get their thyroids checked. The symptoms are pretty much the same so it could be that as well.
