I am starting to put together my trip report of our 17-day mega Cali excursion and just posted a review on the disboards which reminded me of our only issue with the gorgeous GCH ... why the heck can't we just book a room with a daybed for a few bucks extra? I guess the same goes for bunk beds ... which are a bookable at the two similar hotels at WDW, AKL and WL so there is Disney precedent on this subject. Of course, those hotels only allow 5 if one is under age 3.
When I checked in, the CM told me that daybeds were "currently" blocked (at this time of year was my assumption) unless you had three adults in your party. As my youngest has really outgrown a pack and play, our options were to squish into two queens or let them deliver a sleeping bag. Sorry, but it's downright offensive to me that they expect one of my kids to sleep on the nasty floor of a hotel (ours was sticky in several spots until I scrubbed at it with a wet cloth), especially at these prices. So, though we LOVED LOVED LOVED GCH in almost every other way, we likely won't stay there again unless they let us confirm a daybed. I hope when my oldest DS turns 10 and becomes a Disney adult, we'd be eligible to get one but I am betting that it won't work that way! We did the squish, BTW, but I don't think it will be possible next time we return. It was not comfortable.
I'm prolly the only one who feels this way, LOL, because no one wants to pay more for something that is currently free but I'd rather know what I was getting in terms of sleeping arrangements and pay for it.
