Explain when I said "liberals" are not normal? I did not. That is what is called a "straw man fallacy" for us educated folk. I said MAYBE that is the case. I gave no opinion of my own.

Now, to clarify, the point of my post is that you and your ilk, when confronted with someone who thinks differently from you, IMMEDIATELY assumed the other person was something odd. Read your posts. Next time, maybe you can represent your opinion without labeling the other side.

I have a bathing suit that I would have no problem wearing if I were In Rio. However, I wouldn't wear it at any of the Disney water parks. I am not ultra conservative, or prudish about nudity at all. I think the OP has a point, though. This is Disney World, for pete's sake - not a meat market. Save the thongs for the beach.

OP, if it were my son, I really wouldn't say anything. He's old enough to look, and it would surely be very embarrassing to talk about thongs with your mom at that age.

What I've noticed is that many of the people wearing thongs or speedos are from other countries. And it's perfectly normal for them back home, so they bring it along on their vacation.

You'll see all ranges of coverage when it comes to guests at the water park. I personally have never owned a one piece suit, so I usually wear a fuller coverage two piece. The only restriction is no metal or similar on your suit.

You're good, I was just explaining my motivations. I hate when people bully posters like the OP, who was just asking a reasonable question, without any hint of malice.

I want people to know these senseless attacks don't go unanswered, so they don't feel afraid to ask questions. Look at my post count. I come here everyday for interesting reading, not smears like this one. Rarely do I feel the need to comment.

To address the intial question - they do attempt to control inappropriate dress at a familyh oriented park.

My experience - we were at a water park when we noticed a woman with a thong on. Without any prompting from us, 3 security personnel come up and asked her to add clothing to cover up her bottom part as there were too many children for her to dress in that way. She did at that point, but as they left she removed her cover and went back to her original dress.

Security came back and they went through the same song and dance a couple of times. They finally escorted her out of the park for indecency. Whether everyone agrees or not, whether it is on TV or ok in other countries, when you are in Disney - you comply to Disney regs or you are asked to leave.

It is the same way for behavior in the parks. Rude or inappropriate behavior according to Disney will get you an exit pass. Dress is included.

I wouldn't address it at all, in my opinion a 13yr is already more aware than you realize. It makes you uncomfortable, and thats OK. I agree with a PP who said that if you don't make a "big deal" out of it, he wont be so drawn to it either.

I will share that not all of us can wear a one piece. I'm one of many with a long tourso and chesty. If I try to hunch into a one piece, I'll eventually spill out the top.

OT but I called Land's End and asked to speak to a swimwear consultant. (NOTE: NOT a regular customer service person, insist on a swimwear specialist!) They helped me find a GREAT one piece suit that is awesome. I also have a long torso and (not sure I want to compare the chest) but that needs to be accommodated too. But anyhow, I kept thinking I HAD to order only the long torso sizes but they didn't usually accommodate the chest. The consultant asked the styles I liked, she advised me to order by the chest, not the torso and suggested which styles would work best. She told me that the suits that accommodate the larger chests are made longer in the torso anyhow, they just don't print it in the catalog. I have NEVER been able to wear a swimsuit (or teddy) unless it was long torso. But I ended up with a really (I mean really!) nice swimsuit that fits beautifully. I was very pleasantly surprised. I would describe it as a new version of an "old hollywood starlet" style. I would highly recommend doing this.

I don't know if that's true. There are some pretty ugly butt cheeks out there. You'd think that the owners of those cheeks would know better than to make the rest of us suffer at the sight of them, but no. Out there for all to see.

A. No one said anything about "freaking out." You're making that up to make the OP look bad. It is uncalled for. Stick to the facts. She asked a reasonable question.

B. Again, the name-calling. Even if she was "freaking out," that is YOUR opinion that she is not "normal" (in fact, you say "far from it").

Personally, I think that way too many parents are overprotective and it drives me nuts! I work for the management office at a mall, and the complaints from parents over window displays in Victoria's Secret are ridiculous, with people being upset about their kids seeing the mannequins. I grew up not being shielded from everything and turned out fine. I think that parents can be too protective. In my opinion, when you make a big deal about something in front of your child the more likely they are to pay attention to it.

It would be better than having these people attack the OP relentlessly for simply asking a question. The thread became useless after these posters decided to start ridiculous attacks on the OP. I would hate for someone reading the boards to decide not to ask a question because they see how the OP was treated.

I will say that when I grew up there was not near as much to see. You did not walk through malls and see the things you see now Just saying. Things have changed and there is alot more for kids to be exposed too.
