everyone's certainly entitled to their own opinions of what's appropriate, but by no means is anyone else required to share said opinions.

personally, i say whats the big deal in seeing something perfectly legal? is it that bad even if he does see it as something sexual? human nature.

worst case scenario he takes a longer shower back at the hotel. ;)

Spend 10 minutes outside the USA, and then you will see what an uptight bunch we are. Only in this country , which thrives on sex in the movies , TV, advertising, music etc, are we so prudish when it comes to issues of actual nudity. It's hilarious actually...I would think just ignoring it would provide you with the outcome you are looking for..making a big deal of it, in front of your child, will only make it a big deal in his mind...if you treat it like its not there, he may not even notice...what will probably stick out for you is the fact that the person wearing the thong, if from this country, will probably have no business squeezing their oversized tush into it in the first place

It is up to each individual parent how this is handled. Just because I am against this doesn't mean I avoid the water parks. Doesn't mean I have to like nor approve of what I see though. We are each entitled to our own opinions.

You are absolutely right, nudity doesn't equal sexuality but I'm not sure a 13 year old boy sees it that way. I think the best thing I can do is talk with him about what he may see before we go.

But why? Why do you have to talk about it? Not everything needs to be a teaching moment. If you see a woman in a thong, then you see a woman in a thong. Just move along and don't draw attention to it. Talking about it before only makes it more of a big deal.

I have vacationed in Rio de Janeiro and while I was wearing a two piece suit I was covered up by their standards. My friend wore a one piece and we were literally stared at by the natives because we were very conservative. Other cultures don't see skimpy suits at overly provocative, they see them as the generally accepted swimwear. In Rio men wear small fitted boxer brief style swim trunks and women (even the old and out of shape) wear two piece string bikinis with a "rio" bottom, which while not a thong does not cover the full butt. No one was concerned and frankly you can use this moment as a teaching moment for your son about different cultures and how not everyone conforms to your ultra conservative values.

So someone who is concerned about her young son seeing women in really skimpy swimwear at a DISNEY park....... is ULTRA conservative??????????

Your point about what you've seen in Rio is immaterial here. She's not vacationing in Rio. She's vacationing in America. At Disney.

I don't think he needs to be 'prepped' on the fact he's gonna' see people half naked. And face it, a 13 year old boy is pretty sexually aware, of course he's going to notice some women in thongs, if they're attractive.

Well WDW does not forbid this swim attire and WDW attracts an array of international visitors. If the OP wants to shelter her son from the rest of the world she should only patronize facilities that meet her ultra conservative values. These visitors are not breaking the law, so use it as a teaching moment about other cultures and how we as Americans have a very Puritanical view on the human body and the associated embarressment of showing the body under puritanical views.

I agree. You may not even see any or he has seen a dozen at the local swimming pool and you don't know. I can't imagine any 13 yr old boy would like his mother talking to him about seeing girls in thongs in any way shape or form. They would probably rather strangle themselves with said thong than listen to their mother talk about a girl in a thong :lmao:
And I can imagine the shades of red a boy of that age could turn if they do see a girl in a thong and his MOTHER points it out to him, Let the kid have some dignity and not have his mother discus thongs with him at that age.

I so thought this thread was going to go a different way. Kudos to the folks who have no shame, who are proud of their shape, and have no problem sharing their pride with the rest of the world. Personally, if I were Pooh sized, I wouldn' be trying to stuff myself in to a string bikini.

I will share that not all of us can wear a one piece. I'm one of many with a long tourso and chesty. If I try to hunch into a one piece, I'll eventually spill out the top.

That's a pretty judgmental assumption about the OP.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: True including me:lmao:

If someone is that concerned about what the sight of a butt cheek might do, then there's probably a lot of truth in that posters 'assumption'.

Or maybe you and the person assuming this are ultra-liberal, and the OP is, dare I say, normal...?

I love how judgmental people here can get. Look in a mirror for once.

lol @ you calling people judgmental, while implying that liberals are not normal.

Pot....Kettle

Lets not turn this into a political thread. Just admit that everyone has different views on this subject and there is nothing wrong with that. It's all about personal choice.
