...and then my husband's company gave him a DCL gift card and so here I am. We last sailed in 2014 and will be going on the 12/31/16 Eastern. Since Disney had priced us out, I have not been on the Boards for quite awhile. I have a couple questions.

1) Does anyone know the full rotation of "nights" on the Eastern with Tortola( pirate night, formal night, etc).

2) What is the Silver gift now days?

3) Other than the alcohol policy(which I find disappointing now-and I don't drink), are there other changes? I had heard they will no longer sign items, but that was never really in the rules, so don't know how to confirm it. Anything else?

I heard it is not that they wont sign anything but you have to take it to the characters, guest services will no longer take them.

You just bring the item you want signed to the characters when you meet them and they will sign it. I seen people in line with shirts, frames, etc.
There are tickets that you can get when you board (usually from the port adventure desk but look in the navigator and it will tell you the location) to see Anna and Elsa and the princesses. Then you have your time and date to see them and it is SO nice, there is very minimal waiting and it goes very quick, no more waiting 30+ minutes for the princesses and Frozen characters. I really like that they have tickets for those now. Mickey, Minnie, etc are still just wait in line when you see them listed in the navigator.
Have a great cruise!! :)

On our January cruise, Formal night was Sunday night (first sea day), Pirate Night was either Tuesday night (Tortola)or Wednesday night (St. Thomas) (cannot remember which) Captains Gala/Lobster night was Thursday (at sea day)

You can look at previous navigators for the itinerary to find out which night is which. At the bottom of this page are links to various recent navigators: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/cruise-planning/itineraries/itinerary-summary/?itinerary=233

The room service menu has changed a little, they tried to take away the cheese plate, but it has come back.

On the classic ships they have started to show the pirate night fireworks between first and second dining in the winter months when it is dark enough at that time. So far this seems to not have come to the Fantasy yet, but it might be worth it to have an eye out for it and make sure to read your navigator carefully so that you don't miss them in case they change it for the Fantasy as well.

There are now bar snacks for sale in some of the bars in the adult area.

Palo and Remy have increased in price (Palo $30, Remy $85).
