Wow!! We leave to head to the airport hotel in about 48 hours!
So I guess I should pack, right?
Honestly though, I have laid out a lot of things and the actual packing process should be quick.
I've had such a good time talking to my Mom every day...counting down and getting excited about plans, FOOD...etc!

I have had a bit of a gloomy day though....for some reason all of a sudden my sadness about my friend overwhelmed me. I don't know why. Pretty random. I am still working through a lot. We have done Flying Fish before but I'd love to go back. I chose a meal I didn't like but DH had their signature red snapper and it was good. Trying to save money this trip so NO signature restaurants...but things can always change!

Thanks! I do hope we manage to get to FF. Mom and I will end up sharing quite a lot of our meals, so that will keep costs down. We aren't big eaters in the first place, and Disney entrees are always huge! Dying to try the red snapper!!

Ok, well maybe not earth shattering panic, but maybe panic-in-a-calm-and-orderly-fashion.

I forgot something.
Yep. Considering myself among all of you All Knowing Disers all this time...I forgot. about. the. TOUR. GROUPS!!!

Now the reason they slipped my mind is because when I have been in January in the past, we never stay where they are staying and I just avoid them in the parks. No harm, no foul.

But I booked a night at POP! aka The HOLY MECCA OF TOUR GROUPING!

Yes, yes I know it's only ONE night (and a full day) but I was already apprehensive about trying a Value to begin with and now I'm stressed that our first experience with one will be fraught with food court tray bumping, crammed bus chanting, arm locked path blocking teenagers.

Oops.

Remember Mom? The one I said has become and evil old lady?? (ok, not really, but she definitely has less tolerance in her old age)
I think this has the potential to bug the living bejeezus out of her.
Mom+ Ill Behaving Teens= GRUMPALICIOUS
Mom is something of a manners fanatic. Ok...she passed it down to me too.

My first thought was to run, not walk, to the phone and call a CM and beg to upgrade to POR for that first night...but I'm talking myself down off the ledge and telling myself to chill.

I think I'll just stick it out with Pop.
Or maybe not.
Maybe I'll call reservations.
Just to check.
Or maybe I'll just stick with POP.
Or maybe not.

We dealt with them at ASMovies, and really, it was just in the food court. That is why we are going in May...although I hear they can really be there any time, just mostly in January and June. I will pray that your mom doesn't get grumpy! At least it is only one night! Here is some pixie dust!

Soooo.....Here is a BIG shocker!!!!

I changed our first night resort.
(aka, not even the tiniest bit of a shocker, right? )

Who wants to guess where we will be instead of Pop (and a lot of tour groups)??

Want me to tell you??

Ok.

I decided on a semi-new resort. (I've stayed near it but not stayed at it.)
And I have to say I'm pretty geeked about this, even if it's only one night.

PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER!!!

Most of our stays are at various Deluxe resorts, but our favorite (well, only) Mod is Riverside. We've stayed a few times. If you saw the earlier posts in my PTR you know my thoughts/feelings on it.
So I have always thought FQ looked SO beautiful and quaint but we haven't stayed there because it really isn't a great fit for our longer trips, especially when we have been 5 people. However we really adore the feel of the Port Orleans resorts in general.

On another note, my Mom has always had a soft spot for the "Dixie River Boat/NOLA feel" even though she has never been there. Taking a Mississippi river cruise has always been a dream of hers. So BONUS on the theme as well as the smaller size of the resort which I am certain will be easier for her to manage.

So if you haven't caught on yet, overall I'm really excited about the switch and now I kind of wonder why I didn't choose this option when I originally added the extra day.

Oh, and yeah...one more thing...BEIGNETS!!

Well everyone, the countdown is winding down!
In about an hour we will head out to the airport hotel for the night.
I'm hoping the hotel bar is open so I can down a glass of wine to help me sleep!!

I'm looking forward to taking things a little slower, enjoying the little things more, and lots of pictures! (I'm notoriously awful about pics)

However, don't go away!! I'm not going to do an "official" live report, but since I will be contributing to the live report on the dining review board, I will add a little "live" to this report!
