Oh, What a Blast!

Yeah, first trading trip was to Downtown Disney, before the Contemporary. I was very lucky--it was early, and I traded with 2 very nice ladies, and one pretty nice guy--in hindsight, I think he took 2 of my most valuable pins, but he also took 3 average pins, and I got good pins, so it was pretty fair. Not nearly as exciting, or as meaningful an event as Laurie"s and Dom"s, I was however this night at the World of Disney Store, given a CTT pin by one of the "pin-head" managers. I got if for "trading nice" and in the spirit of Disney, and I told him I was trained right by the "Dis" board people!! I never thought I 'd get this pin, and I'm proud to be able to say I trade "nice", as I definitely met a few people who don't trade "nice", so I was thrilled!

Went to the Contemporary next where Kathryn welcomed me with open arms like we had known each other forever! She made me feel so at home and safe. I then plopped myself down in one spot, and only traded with those fish who were swimming in my pond! Dom pointed out who "Raul" was, and I said "No way am I going near him and Donna--they are way too big fish--so out of my league, I'm not going to embarass myself!" But as the night wore on, I had to actually move and venture a little if I was going to keep trading, but still stood in awe--and slightly afar--from the famous Raul and his pin boy!

Next night, Saturday, went to Downtown again, got there later, and boy, a whole different scene! Tons of people and very intimidating!! The same guy was there, and he did warn me off of a shark(she was very pretty for a shark) but, I think I was too small for her anyway!! I did ok, and got out of there!! (The only people you can be pretty sure you are safe with, are the Japanese--they give their pins away!!)

On to the Poly--what a crowd!!! It was actually a little more scary than the Contmeporary!! Made some mistakes here; for instance got a swan boat(which isn't even on my wants list anymore) but this one guy wanted to trade and I sure didn't want to say "no" to a trade, so I saw the swan boat, and said "well, I could give you the 3 pins you want for the swan boat"; he said "yes"-nibble, nibble. Afterwards I realized adding up the cost of those 3 pins what I paid for that swan boat, which I would never had paid were I "buying" it!!! But, I have a swan boat!! Well, I was starving and thirsty--pin trading is hard work--but no way would I quit. I met some wonderful people that night at the poly, and (and also met the lady who yelled at me NYE at the trading station at Epcot, but that's a whole 'nother story!) Everybody started going home--it was only 1 am! So, luckily Ed introduced me to Alexis, and her sister Adrienne, who are absolute babies compared to the rest of us, and have no trouble staying up until 2am, and they wanted to trade! So, who am I to say no and go home when someone wants to trade?! Well, we were a hoot, the three of us not having a clue what to trade, what was a fair trade--so we just kept asking each other "are you happy? Yeah, I'm happy; are you sure you're happy?" They were really sweet girls--although I have no idea what I traded for!

Well, I haven't even gotten to the best part yet--New Year's Eve--but I'm no "storyteller-Raul", and it's getting a little long!! Will try to post the rest later, and those that are totally bored will know NOT to read part II!!

OH Ruthie!!

I am so glad you had a wonderful time :D

And to think I was there at the beginning...... and now you are swimming on your own with the big fish. I knew it would not take too long.

Congratulations on your CTT!!!

Debbie

Congratulations on all your hard work & of course your new pin! Keep writing please - I was getting into your stories :). Isn't it nice when people tell you you play fair? One of the Saturday a.m. pin friends said that to me when I traded with her daughter after they returned from WDW. It makes you feel good.

hope you continue telling us your adventures!!! You are indeed brave to
have ventured into trading!!! I usually stick with the CM ....I'm such
a small fish!!! but good for you!!!!!!!
Can't wait to hear the rest!!!

Holycow

Congratulations on the CTT Ruthie!! They sure know how to pick those deserving people lately down in WDW!
We are looking forward to your next posts so we can hear more about your trip!!

Suzi and Vince

Wow what an exciting time you had here....swam out of the little fishes pool...right into shark
haven..not only did she survive, she kicked butt...then gets a CTT for trading nice...and isn't that
what trading is all about...how can you ever become good friends w/ someone if you try to shark
them...beats me...

I won't even go into the pin withdrawl episode on New Years Eve..but between you and Raul
I'm still sore from laughing...

Congrats again Ruthie...to a very deserving person..

Donna

Loved Part I! You obviously learned from every trade and trading is HARD work, (panting from thirst!!!)!

Didn't hear if you got any more Christmas pins - your favs......

Can't wait to hear Part II!

Again it was packed..we had traders from Disneyland w/ all the new releases.(I just love their pins)

and their were 2 very nice couples from Japan..you wouldv'e had a ball....

You were thought of often, as we recounted our New Years Eve celebration..we were sorry that you, Cynthia and
Dom couldn't have finished off this week w/ us while Matt & Laurie were still here...

What did you think of the pin releases that Kathryn posted...have you decided what useless things that you can
put on ebay to finance them?? I'm looking seriously at some of the furniture...we are never here to use it..always
at Disney anyway....we can always grab naps on the Cont. sofas..

Then there are the surprise pins, that aren't on the list...OMG..

I'm not even counting Disney Store....Oh Well...

Hang in there...we are looking forward to your next visit..

Donna:bounce:

Way to go Ruthie on your CTT pin, CONGRATS!!!:bounce:

You done great kid, all the people that trained you should be proud.

Soooooo many questions

When can you teach me that Kill-em with kindness pin-fu you practiced on so many while you stayed here.

Did the pin patch last till you got home?

Did your son have to break open the emergency pin stash?

Are you really 27 like you told me? And do you really have a Harley tattoo on your (oops cant tell sorry)?

And last but not least you heard Charlie say Nibbles with pp's didn't you????? I'm note alone here am I huh huh .
