I actually spent less money that I thought I was going to , I didn't buy any clothes yet and honestly I won't buy any summer clothes for school, but I will have to buy for the winter.
But it's the first time that both kids were happy with what they picked too, it didn't take them 5 hours to decide. YAY!

I'm dreading this! With a 15 yr old son and 13 yr old daughter, the clothes shopping will NOT be fun! I'm going to take them each separately and try to make it a fun day with a special lunch out and time for some silly fun interspersed with the clothes shopping. I've found we do better if we look through what they can still wear from last year and then make a list of what they need to fill in the gaps.

Glad to hear you're well on your way MSKanga! I'll be crossing my fingers that all goes well for both of us!

We got our first round finished too. I got my 7th grader 7 pair of pants and 7 shirts and 5 pair of boxers and a belt all at the gap last week for under $100. (They were having a great sale) He had grown a lot over the summer and none of his pants from last year fit and his shirts were looking worn. My dd has a few new shirts for school, but I will put off pants and shoes for her until school is in session a little longer. It looks like paper is on sale this week so I will stock up on paper and pencils and pens. Then we just have to pay book fees. Ds got a letter that his are $100 this year, so dd will be close to that too. I am just glad no one is in high school this year, that is where they really get you. Last year before ds graduated his were$238. Ahhhh.

I guess I'm lucky my DD (17) does most of her school clothes shopping online. We did go to the mall this past weekend and we found some good bargains. I'm also lucky that our house in Orlando sold last week and we had money so nothing was put on any credit cards! Wonderful feeling! I'm also lucky we live in Florida so, it's pretty much summer clothes all year round, with a few exceptions like a jacket for some cooler mornings.

She did make a comment that this was the last year for school clothes shopping. It's her senior year. I said something like what about college clothes. She said she didn't care that much and she'd buy them herself. Sounds good to me...

I haven't bought the first thing yet, and they start back next Monday.

I'm glad your kids didn't give you much fuss, Olga.:) When do they start back to school?:)

I went shopping at Osh Kosh for my 7 year old and they were having a GREAT Sale 70% & 50% off. So actually the bill came to $420.00 but I only ended up paying $212.00 it was great! I still have to buy for winter, but the summer is out of the way for back to school!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Got dd's done a couple weeks ago - well - she will need new sneakers but waiting for the pair she has to fall apart before buying new pair

The school supplies are done too - even a new back pack for this year

Except for buying my 16 yr old DS a pair of jeans the other day, I haven't offically started school shopping yet. The 14 yr old DS just hates to go and try on clothes. But yet he's the pickiest!

This is the first year I have to buy for 3. My 6 year old is going into 1st grade and my 3 year old twins are going to a part day pre school. I went to walmart the other day and they had alot of short sleeve shirts on sale for 3 and 5 dollars! I stocked up on them. I am in south Georgia, so they can pretty much wear short sleeves year round. I am going to Hilton Head on Wednesday to finish up shopping. They have some good outlet malls and there is even a Disney Store Outlet :D Hopefully then I will be done. My 6 year old son wants stitch bookbag he saw in the Disney store catalog, but I am going to wait and see if there is anything at the Disney outlet.

Yes, I did some a few weeks ago. Got the school supplies (well, most of it anyway)..

And got some clothes. Still need some jeans, shirts for DS. DD outgrew everything.. (went up two sizes over the summer!)

I used to hate school shopping!!!!!

I started giving the kids the money I budgeted for them and taking the to the store I just followed them around and let them pick what they wanted BUT I told them ahead of time that if they blew it all on 2 pairs $80 jeans and 150.oo shoes I don't want to hear it!!! That was all the money i was giving them!!! They were going to be the ones doing laundry every other day NOT ME!!!!!

I was such a MEAN mom!!!

My youngest is in college now and HE is a shopper! He looks for the sales and makes his money stretch! So I guess I did something right!

I'm not going to buy DS any jeans yet because it'll be hot for quite a well yet and he has plenty of good shorts. I also think he's about due for a growth spurt. :)

I will get him some shirts though especially since he informed me that shirts with collars weren't "cool". Kids!

Finished school shopping for my 10yo dd a couple of weeks ago. We did great at one of the big Khols sales and at Old Navy. All she needs is sneakers and shoes and I'll wait til the week before school for that. Even the supplies and backpack have been bought. My 4yo dd will be going to pre-school 5 days a week. She is very picky about clothes. Took her shopping and she only picked 2 pair of pants and after we got home she told me they were uncomfortable and she didn't want them. I will be returning them and buying her mostly wind pants and sweatpants. She is a total comfort creature!!

Lets' see with 5 DCherubs in school I have made a big dent.

I have 3 almost done and 2 just begun! Hey, can anyone tell me why they can't make a pair of tights that will last my 6 yo DD longer than an hour-lol!

School supplies almost done too, yipee!

I bought Kelsea some school clothes only to find out she won't be able to wear them. Luckily I didn't buy anything really nice that she won't be able to wear everywhere else.

I have to call the school today to find out what the dresscode is exactly before I do much more. I haven't bought any supplies at all, but I will soon. They don't start for 3 weeks so I have time. But book rental? It's over $100 for each of them. My oldest is a senior this year and my youngest is just starting middle school. It's going to be an interesting year. :D

Book rental? You mean the school doesn't supply the books?

Nope, and then you don't get to keep them.

Book rental?! Yikes!! Glad that wasn't a problem when mine were in school. I do miss the school clothes shopping though. :(
Mine are 27 and 24 though so it's "been awhile" since those days were here. I used to take each on a separate day to the mall and "make a day of it." Even my DS enjoyed that. We'd shop and go out to lunch and they usually had a little money for "fun stuff" too. Once they got older, into high school, they went on their own or with friends and they had their own jobs so spent their own money on the clothes they wanted.

Thats one of my favorite things about Catholic school, uniforms!! Its so EASY. And with 3 DS fairly close in age, you can recycle some from year to year!!

However books and fees are getting foolish.

I would not be a happy camper if I had to rent the books, then again if I had to, I guess I would do like everyone else, :( .
The only thing they ask in dd's school is to take good care of the books ( within a reasonable usage ) and get book covers for those that don't have it.
