Scary, but when DD8 gets on the bus for school in the morning somehow the sound of the engine and smell of the exhaust reminds me of disney buses. Just the smell of the morning air and such reminds me of waiting for the bus to the parks in the morning.

I was just going to reply saying this exact thing! DH and I took a drive to our nearest Rainforest Cafe (about 2hours away) for the first time this past Valentine's day. From the moment I walked in I couldn't believe how much that smell brought me right back. So much that towards the end of dinner I looked at DH and said "so what ride are we gonna hit first when we go into AK"??? What a disappointment when we walked out of the restaurant into a mall Gotta love that smell!

I just love Disney smell. My DH has always thought I was a little off my rocker but I am saving this thread to show him!
I simply love the smell when you first get off the monorail/ferry and you get up to the entry way into Main Street. THAT is Disney to me. THen you start experiencing all the wonderful smells as you stroll down Main St. like the Candy store, the Bakery (yummo), Casey's, ahhhh, I feel like I'm home again!

Sometimes the opposite happens to me. The other day I was reading a trip report and there was a picture of star tours in it, as soon as I saw the picture I could SMELL star tours! It was awesome!

OH MY GOD! There are other people out there like me!

Here are some of my smells.

#1 Bought a pair of jeans from Costco.... they smelled just like the water at WDW... the kids thought things were a bit odd when mommy was sitting there smelling my pants leg!

#2 I opened a new pack of leather baseballs for my PE classes..... can you say Pirates? That same indoor water ride smell.

#3 If you stand really close to my sound system in my gym, you get a wiff of the fresh air being blown into the room.... on rainy days the smell is unmistakable.

#4 This is not a smell... but I was in Target and heard a chime near the electronics desk..... I immediately started saying, "Tom Morrow, paging Tom Morrow, your party has arrived from Saturn, please give them a ring". DW knew exactly what triggered it...

Aren't we all pathetic? Sweet! I am all tingly now.... I am going to have to forward this to DW. She will get a kick out of it.

My very first trip to WDW was when I was 7. One of the souvenirs I bought was this plastic, blow-up pillow with Minnie on it. We drove and the whole way home I had that pillow under my head or on my lap. To this day (I'm 38) that certain plasticky smell "smells like Disney World" to me. I say it all the time (to my husband's annoyance).

I LOVE this story!!!

My family also "smells" Disney World, especially on warm, humid mornings. We love that smell.

I had a recent moment of "hearing Disney"! A couple of weeks ago in church, they were showing a video presentation and as the background music was playing I thought "Epcot! I feel like I'm in Epcot!". You know when you first walk into Epcot early in the morning and you can really hear that music and it's just so....Epcot-y? Yeah, it was like that! Then, my 9yo DD leans over to me and whispers "Mom, this sounds like DisneyWorld music". I was so proud of her!

"Epcot-y?" YES, YES, I say that too. When I hear certain music, I often say to my family doesn't that sound Epcot-y?

OMG, that is so funny you started this thread. Just Wednesday, I had my nails done and the tech sprayed them with something new after I came out of the UV dryer. Well, I thought . . my fingers smell like Pop Century. I just kept smelling them all the way home. Then I came in the house and told DH to smell my fingers. He gave me a strange look, and I told him they smell like PC. He just laughed and told me I was losing it. Don't care, though, because that is what they smelled like.

It's something about hot asphalt and a hint of cigarette smoke that screams WDW to me! Even though smoking is well-controlled, and only permitted in a few areas, somehow I've associated it with WDW. Probably from years ago when smoking was common and there weren't designated places, that settled in my brain as the WDW experience. Not at all a bad smell really, it's just a 'hint' of odor.

Whenever I hear Aerosmith I think about Disney, and the same goes for getting into an elevator, I always think about ToT....LoL But I know what you mean about that "water ride" smell....

The other night DH was smoking a chicken (well not literally ) he was cooking it in the smoker-- i said-- i smell disney turkey legs!

of course he did the husband LOOK-- i love ya- but your nuts!

another thing- not a smell but when i hear certain italian or french music-- i think of EPCOT! most people would probably say- boy i would love a trip to italy or france..Not me! I SAY-- I WANNA GO TO DISNEY!

That happened to me just a couple of days ago!! I was in the grocery store and suddenly I had the MGM-ey feeling, and I realized it was because Aerosmith was playing!

One branch of my bank uses the same cleaning fluid I guess as the hotels and I walk in and get a whiff of it, I am there....

I love Disney water smell, most people say......yuck..but that smell means vacation and wonderful times to me. There are couple of mall fountains here with that smell, not as good as the real thing..but works for me...

The smell of mesquite at a barbecue puts me on Spaceship Earth....A friend had a barbecue last weekend and man I was on SE for the afternoon..

I dug out my 5 year old daughter's Stride Rite Tokay sandals from the closet this morning. The first time she's worn them since Disney World last Sept. She was putting them on and stopped and picked up one and said. "hey Mommy... my shoes smell like Disney World". I laughed, but knew what she meant. Then I come here this evening and read this thread. How funny!
