OK, so I've read the post about people letting friends use their DVC. Well, a good friend of mine owns a RCI timeshare. Her 50th B-day is this Febuary & she really wanted to take her daughters & grandchildren. This would be there first family vacation ever! She was unable to get her week @ WDW, so I sp/w DH & we decided since we have ample points it wouldn't kill us to get a ressie for her.
Well, mind you she was looking to go during Winter Recess but, I was lucky to get a ressie for a 2brdm basically at any resort since I was at my 7 month window. I booked them at my home resort of OKW for Feb 15-20th. (cheapest points)
So I think all is good........she then calls me today to see if I can extend it to the 23rd because the flights home are cheaper!!!! :scared1: I tell her no way. There are plenty of motels in the Kissimmee, Lake Buena Vista area. She claims there was nothing available & didn't want to pay $4,000 to stay the additional 3 days @ OKW  I go online & found several reasonable hotels right on disney property by DTD no less! I made sure to forward the info to her before.
All I know is I'll never, never do this again. For now on my points are my points :mad::mad: If someone ever offered me a deal like this I couldn't imagine asking that person to extend my days...
Thanks for letting me vent....

That's true. My neighbor who is also a DVC member said she'll probally bring me back a coffee mug as a thank you :rotfl2:

That just stinks!! In addition to sending her the hotel information, you should also slip in there the rack rates so she knows what your gift would have cost her...maybe that would make her more appreciative. :rolleyes1

I just don't get people...

There should be good availability for that time for a 2 BR in the Orlando area for Feb overall but this week is President's week, likely as or more difficult than easter or Xmas overall. I don't see any 2 BR for this week in RCI weeks and limited options in RCI points. ASAMOF, DVC might possibly change this week to premier in the future.

O well, all I can say is "lesson learned".

I tried to explain to her orginally that she should have gone the week before & at the end of the month but, she wanted to be there for her "50th" She did call me last night to say she's going to stay at her in-laws for the extra days. You don't even want to know what I was thinking in my head when she told me that. I told DH last night to not even think of giving her husband a Christmas bonus this yr cause his bonus went to his wife! (her hubby is an employee of our company).

I think the woman already knows the rack rate since she didn't want to pay $4K to stay at OKW another 3 days.

It's sad to punish the employee for having an idiot wife. Since the trip was not labeled as a trip to replace the husband's bonus I'm sure it would be appropriate to take away a bonus he has earned.

It would be tempting to make sure she realizes that she will never be offered any days at WDW again and in fact because of her attitude that no one will ever be given this offer again. But somehow that just seems to bring you down to her level.

Like others have said that was a hard lesson to learn.

This situation with an employer and employee involved is significantly more risky than friends and relatives IMO. I predict this will not be the last frustration you have with this situation. Maybe they'll cancel last minute or not be happy with some aspect of the resort but I think it's likely there will be something else come up from this arrangement.

After re-reading the OP, I'm a little confused. How is it that this is their first family vacation when they own a timeshare, is that first extended family vacation?

She just recently bought a re-sale so that she could do family vacations since they've never been on one before. Sorry I should have clarified that
I agree I'm sure this isn't the last I'll hear about this. Worse case scenerio if she does cancel at the last minute, we'll get an extra trip out of this
All I know is I can't wait to get down there myself next month. Grand Villa in Kidani here we come
