If the kids' lanyards (with pins in them, obviously) are in their carry-ons, is that going to be a problem? Will they become very short members of the Do-Not-Fly list shortly after they get hauled into a tiny windowless room by a guy named Rex?

we carry ours on every trip. I put them in tupperware containers so no one gets poked.

Seriously? Did you check tsa.gov for carry-on restrictions?

Pins are not considered weapons.

However, the question about whether pins are allowed is reasonable. Some things that are pointed or sharp are not allowed. The official TSA website is good place to get the official word on carry-on and checked luggage restrictions.

My post is directed towards the ridiculous section of the post regarding the Do Not Fly list. While I think it is odd for someone to question if pins are allowed, when small scissors, knitting needles, corkscrews without blades, etc. are, I guess if someone doesn't travel often, they might wonder.

I think the OP was joking about the no fly list. The main concern is will they be able to take the pins through security and on the plane. Wow, humor is lost on some people. I for one got a chuckle out of her question but was smart enough to see through the humor to the real question
In answer, they should be fine but like another poster said you may want to put them in a container so Boone gets poked if they do manually search your bag.
