sad it's killing me. That vaca was not like any other WDW vaca I have ever experienced. No pretrip anticipation. Spent weeks packing & repacking and planning just to have it all shot to hell. Just spent my time in FL and here I am back again only to wait till our next vaca. Hopefully my next vaca wont get cancelled too.

I just finished reading your last eleven posts complaining about this.

I agree. Maybe you should back away until you can put this back into perspective.

If you are truly unhappy about your compensation, type a nicely written letter to DCL. Explain to them exactly how you feel and exactly what you want. Without being whiney. Nonstop complaining on the DIS is going to get you nowhere.

I understand how you could be disappointed. But to let it overwhelm you like this is just wrong.

From my perspective, your life looks pretty darn good.

I think you chose to go WDW and not rebook a cruise at a later date. I know there is cost involved but based on your posts I knew no matter what happened you were not going to be happy.

Is that Disney's fault or yours?

PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE, at the very least keep your complaining to one board.Thank you.

Sometimes it helps to think about how fortunate you are rather than concentrate on a single disappointment. A cancelled cruise really isn't worth the misery you are putting yourself through. I've read your currents posts and I agree, a break from from posting and getting some perspective on this issue is probably the best thing.

WE HAD NON-REFUNDABLE AIRFARE!!!
WHAT WERE WE SUPPOSE TO DO? LOOSE THAT TOO?
I honestly feel that the lifelong DVCers were treated not as well as the cash people. Even though we did just pay them over $8,000 in this past year alone!

Non refundable does not mean you can't reschedule. You would have paid to make the change. To me, there is no amount of money you can place on peace of mind.

So write to them. Explain what compensation would make you feel MAGICal again. Maybe they will do something else for you. Who knows? What I do know is incessant griping about it here is going to get you nothing.

didn't you join last year? That makes you a lifelong dvcer?

Look bottom line we're all thrown curve balls. You either deal with it or wallow in it. A vacation is ALWAYS what you make of it. If you don't want to have a good time, if you want to find things to complain about then you'll have a miserable vacation.

People took the time here to help you so that you would still have fun. Now all you want to do is come back and complain?

Heck I would have gladly taken your plane tickets and reservation and I'm sure I would have managed to have a great time.

Let's try being grateful for what we do have instead of being pissed for what we didn't get.

And at Port Orleans they had the cruiseline ship replice and the pic of the Magic on the DVC board out in the open public so everytime I walked into the gift shop, arcade or to the front desk there it was staring me in the face! A few nights I was in tears at guest services telling them to please take down the ship, etc but they never did! And the DCL booth was set up there right in the lobby!

Again...... all what you made of it. They should inconvenience thousands of guests just because seeing the replica made you sad? Seems like a better way of looking at it would have been to say....... Hey see that ship......we'll be on it next year at HALF PRICE!

So take the title of your thread and cut the last portion off. YES you should be glad you just got home from WDW!

I am sorry for your misfortune, however, you did get to go on vacation. Some people go years and get NO vacation.

And also you DID get a vacation with your husband and many times you thought that he would not even get on the cruise ship to go with you and your son.

And maybe you should think about the fact that you and your family were not at sea vomitting for days. Instead you were on a vacation at WDW during one of the most special times of the year.

I really try to stay kind on the boards if I do not agree with someone, but honestly you just don't know when to quit.

Instead of always finding the negative, try to focus on what you do have. You had a week long vacation with your family. You can plan a future cruise and know that it will be twice as nice because you will be on the cruise for 1/2 of the price. Think of all the special perks that this might entitle you to. Maybe some added excursions, take home gifts, etc.

Life is really so so short. Try to focus on the positive. Take it from someone who knows. Life is a lot nicer when you don't always find the negative.

All the best to you.

Yes we did just join last year. I was hoping to have an impressive first experience. However, that was not to happen. And yes we are in this for the long haul - until 2042. If you dont call that lifelong DVCer I dont know what you would

Do you realize you have 16 different threads about your miserable vacation? Get a grip already.

I still don't understand why you just didn't just re-book the cruise. You went to WDW stewing about the cruise and how you weren't compensated fairly. You expected to have a bad time and guess what, you did. No surprise there. Do you think the DCL will care that you were a martyr and hated your time at WDW? Your $8K dosen't matter to them either. :p

Your $8000 bought you 40 yrs of vacations and nothing more. It's not that impressive an amount of money. We'll spend that much on our upcoming trip. I think I'm going to write Disney and complain that I'm not getting treated as well as the DVCers!! If you weren't going to be satisfied with a trip to WDW ( and it was crystal clear you weren't going to be ) then anything you spent on that trip was just throwing good money after bad. Why spend hundreds of $$$'s more than you already spent if you weren't going to enjoy it? You could have cut your losses and moved on. There was the option of rescheduling flights, but you chose not to. Disney didn't have to give you a single thing except a refund or in your case your points back. Anything you got after that was gravy and all you want to do is complain because you're afraid somebody got a little more gravy than you did. If it's true, and I see no evidence that it is, perhaps they spent more of their effort talking to the people who could so something for them rather than ranting inccesantly on these boards. Perhaps they were reasonable and not hysterical and it got them a little more. The cancellation wasn't your choice, everything after that was. I thought you were going to give the boards a break????

It sounds like you just made a choice that just didn't pan out the way you had hoped, which is disappointing.

However, I think you should cut your losses and try to put it behind you. It only causes stress to go over it and over it and in my opinion, that's just not worth it. You cannot change what has gone.

When you are not so anxious, sit down write Disney a letter explaining your thoughts and see what they say! They really can be very fair and reasonable to deal with if you are also!

;)

Umm we spent more than $8,000 on Disney before this vacation in this year alone! No that is no where near the total amount we are currently putting into DVC.
Just think there was a difference here with how DVCers were treated compared to "cash" people getting park hoppers, meals and resort stays paid for

Its funny after some people suggested she look on the postive side she did make three other posts with postive things to say about her trip she hasn't made anymore post on this one but as Eros would say the hang them high crowd just keep posting on this one but hasn't replyed to her other threads.

Your vacation will be what YOU make of it!
If you weren't in the right frame of mind, you should have re-booked at a later date.
A lot of people here have had to cancel vacations for all kinds of reasons, myself included. We all have to learn to deal with the disappointments in life. In the grand scheme of things, this is a very minor disappointment. I hope you can put things in perspective.
