I really have never met any celebs at WDW but with my luck I would look like a total idiot if I did. On reason i say this I because My son and I are season ticket holders for the Phil. Soul in the AFL and When we met team owner Jon Bon Jovi I looked like a idiot almost falling down as he was giving my son an autograph. Just my luck.
An ancillary Disney celebrity story, although this dealt with Disneywold...Back when I was young and innocent (30 yrs ago) I happened to be at a function in CA for an animal shelter. I was 17 at the time and visiting with parents and sister. At the animal shelter fundraiser was Valerie Bertinelli, then 16 and famous for being on One Day At A Time. After getting her autograph I sat and talked briefly and realized that, altho she was a "famous" actress at the ripe old age of 16 she hadn't had a chance to experience the thrill that is Disneywolrd, so mustering all the courage a timid 17 yr old could muster I asked if she would join me the next day. To my surprize she said "yes" and from there one of my most fondest memories was born!!!! I felt like a king, and for the most part she just blended in and enjoyed the park like a normal 16 yr old would! It was magical!!!
We saw Erik Estrada (from the show "CHIPS") at the Cape May Cafe having breakfast. He was two tables from us. He was with his family. I was impressed at how very patient and gracious he was to everyone that went up to him for either an autograph or picture.
Last November (2004), we were walking into the Beach Club lobby when Eric and his family were walking out. My husband said, "I know you!" and Eric responded, "Tony Orlando!" My husband replied, "No! You're Eric Estrada." Needless to say Eric agreed with my husband and they shook hands and made small-talk about CHIPS and his vacation. It lasted about 5 - 10 minutes. He was very pleasant and was happy to see that someone recognized him. We saw him a few hours later in the lobby again.
We saw Lindsay Lohan and her parents (pre-family crises) and some other kids (?) a few years back, a few times, at MK one day. She (and they) were filming for a show that we later saw on TV. They were being filmed going down the drop on Space Mountain, and we were in the log behind them...but they cut before we dropped. Imagine that! We saw her and her family looking at their Splash Mtn pictures afterwards. Then we saw her at various times during the day, getting primped for more scenes.
We saw Julie Andrews a few times on one trip. She was there promoting a new children's book. Then one night, we went to the balcony outside California Grill to watch a Space Shuttle take off, and she was right behind us, with some CMs (her family was inside at a table). I thought we'd hear her on our video of the takeoff...no mistaking that accent "you go boys!" ...but she was mostly drowned out by the wind. The kids wanted to get autographs, but I felt she should be left alone to enjoy the experience.
We also saw Alan Thicke and Paula Zahn. (Not together. )
I just got back from WDW and can add two new celebs to my list. As we were walking out of Le Cellier at Canada, Jay Bilas, ESPN college b-ball analyst and former DUKE player, was walking in. My wife and I are huge Duke fans, so that was nice. Since it was ESPN weekend, I thought I'd see more sports celebs than that.
Celeb two was leaving the Contemporary as we were entering...Wesley Snipes.
