I saw the "Dream Squad" in action today

How exciting. I love that people get radom acts of Disney magic. I have always felt and seen this at other times on past trips and am excited to see it continue in the future.

I remember once when we had just arrived on one of our two week trips. We went to MK and it was early afternoon. We had just arrived to stand in line for Splash Mountain and a CM came up to us and asked if we had been on SM before. We said, yes but that this was our first time this trip. She said come with me and took us through the exit to the ride and immediately got us on SM. It was really magical, especially since we had just arrived and walked into the park. It was literally our first thing we were doing since we arrived in Orlando!!

From the other thread - the CM who shouted WHO WANTS GIVEAWAYS gave out Mickey Ears with clouds, etc on them. There was something else too like coins??? but I couldn't see the picture clearly enough. The Mickey Ears were cool!

The rules state all prizes are random even the fast pass badges, a seperate firm is running the giveaways and they assign when things are given out. I would assume even if the dream squad were followed those guests would not "win" as they squad would be on their way to the next location they were informed to go to. Ie, the 5th family to walk through a certain exit at 4:52pm, etc.

whether I get something or not. How wonderful for folks to get extra magic on an already magical vacation. Of course, I would love to be the recipient, but I won't feel slighted if I am not. However, I'm certainly going to hope...

We'll be there 11/18 for 8 nights..you never know. And, we're hoping to go again next May.

Give out as many "all ride passes" as they can for prizes which looks good for the press, and don't you think that a: the stand by times will go up, or b: the number of regular fast passes go down? There's only so much time in a day. The rides can't be available to everyone all day long.

Just wanted to clarify that I think you have a misconception of the "Dream fastpass". It is a lanyard card that has ONE ticket for each fastpass attraction at the park that it was issued at. You get to go on the attractions that offer fast pass ONE time. It is not an all day pass whenever you feel like going, once you have used the pass at that attraction, it is completed. So it does not affect the normal operation of the attraction or the wait times.

Also on the post about "Who wants giveaways" the CM's that are a part of this team have a speil that they have to follow when issuing the prizes, if they did say that it would have been after explaining to the group that they had won.

As 2angelsinheaven mentioned, the CM's that are in this job are not the ones that are picking who gets prizes, it is very specific as to who, how many and what time, you can go up to them (if you can find the actual prize team) and talk to them, but they can not give you anything, it is all regulated by the Florida Sweepstakes laws. Random yes...completely...but it is not whoever they want.

I am so excited that people got to see the first giveaways, it must have been exciting just to see it...

Well, my "dream" vacation is already happening since I will be going with my two older DS's. Now that they are older, I see them less and less so we will be enjoying each others company at OKW. I would love to see one of them get a little extra pixie dust!!!

That's actually what I think the most exciting part is.

A computer is going to spit out something like "the next person who gets off of car #54 on the Haunted Mansion", or "the family sitting at table #14 at The Plaza". Unlike most Disney promotions, they won't get to pick and choose the guests that win things.

There are rumblings that the random nature actually has the marketing people a bit worried; they fear those chosen for the big prizes may not be the "typical Disney family" they usually find to fill the roles in big promotions.

I am totally ok with this! Being that we don't have kids, we would never be picked to win if they only focused on guests with kids, which seems to have been the norm up until now. I like the more random approach because it actually increases my odds. Maggie

That was me who posted that. The other things in the pic were YOAMD pins! My sister said that the CMs went up to the line and gave to everyone in line. (I guess there weren't too many people.) She said as soon as they came up and shouted that they had prizes, the crowd started cheering and clapping. Sounds like fun!

Today was Day 2 of the Food and Wine Festival for us!! So far I haven't gotten anything from the Dream Squad but I'm looking for them. I'll let you know if I see anyone and maybe I'll get something myself.

Really cool, this is the first I've read on this actually starting, thanks for sharing with us.

Can't wait to see this is action myself in Dec.

We were there this weekend & saw a family get chosen to play a song while waiting to go into Philharmagic. It was a little odd but I bet it'll be something those kids will always remember. :) But it really was odd!

That would be great to get one of those. Sure hope they continue giving those out in March!! Maybe we can get one. :thumbsup2

I am so excited. We leave tonight. I would enjoy just seeing some one get a little pixie dust. This is so magical.:cool1:

I can't wait to get down there!!! I don't expect to win anything, but just to see someone else win would be so cool!!!! Good Luck everyone!!!!!
