I saw next weeks Big Love!!!

Last night we switched over to on-demand so DH could watch the 2nd Big Love that he missed on Sunday night. When they listed the choices, #3 was listed, so we turned to that one! It was next weeks!! We got to see how Nikkis party went and met the new neighbors!! I don't know what happened, but I love being a week ahead!!

I saw it for the first time last night. My jaw hit the floor when within the first 2 minutes there was a VERY graphic and noisy sex scene featuring Bill Paxton's rear end. Dh suddenly got up and announced he was going to bed Jealous much there muffin??

Well, one thing is for sure, Paxson isn't modest. I've always found him kind of annoying but I do like the show, maybe because it is a topic that hasn't been covered much in popular culture. My husband likes it too.

We have Adelphia Digital Cable and one day, it showed up on our remote. That's how we got it.

Yay! I'll watch next week's tonight. It'll be great getting to go to sleep after the Sopranos instead of fighting to stay up until 11:00.

The show makes me a bit sad. Think of the low self-esteem that polygomist women must have to share their DHs with other women. Heck, I wouldn't be satisfied with only every 3 days while I know he's kicking up the fort every night of the week.

Some do (the new movies) but there are tons of free shows & movies on OnDemand.

This show is disturbing and doesn't even come close to portraying real Polygamist compounds and lives. HBO put this lovely spin on it and make it seem in some way ok when it is so not ok it's not even funny. It disturbs me that they are not portraying Polygamy the way it is in real life. It isn't all happy and roses! It is abuse, incest, rape and control. It is inbreeding and OLD men marrying girls as young as 9. These girls don't have any type of say in what happens to them and they certainly as wives are not equals as suggested by this show. I live in Utah and we hear about this all the time. There is nothing glamorous or exciting about it. My best friend's mother and her aunt were victims of Polygamy and trust me it is nothing like what this show portrays! I just hope that people who watch it realize that it is Hollywood hype and isn't a fair representation of real polygamist lives.

I'm in no way a supporter of polygamy but they did indeed, at least started to imply that there is a 'seedier' side to it all... the first show alluded to it when discussing the compound, the father of the "middle" wife taking a very young bride etc... I haven't seen the second (or third) yet but I can only presume that they'll delve a bit deeper as the show progresses.

I agree that they did start to imply the darker side of polygamy but I can't see them actually taking it to the level of even exploring the real truth about Polygamy! I wish they would bring light to the fact of the dark side of Polygamy but I can't seem to make my mind believe that they would actually portray the whole truth. It is an ugly and vile truth and there are very few programs who are willing to put it all out on the table and say exactly what is going on. There is incest, rape, violence, abuse and complete control over women and children. They are sending the young boys away from the compound because there aren't enough girls to "go around". I really do hope they portray it as it is...it would give me a small glimmer of hope for these poor children and women. Living in Utah we see the dark side and this show hasn't even come close to skimming the surface! I guess time will tell

I do hope you are right drgnfly30 because this needs to be something that is shown in the light it happens in! There is a complete dark side and it needs to be shown! I hope that the compound and the father will progress into the darker sides of Polygamy because hearing about it from first hand accounts even makes it more "vile and disgusting" than just watching it on tv..

I think they will show some of the seedier aspects in order to make their version look better...but I don't think the show is meant to be about that. I think its going to be more about Bill Paxton's character stressing out over 3 wifes/families/problems and the families problems. it has to be entertaining...if its all lewd/true....it won't be as fun to watch. right?
