I saw Disney's A Christmas Carol tonight

Our local theater isn't showing it in 3D. Is it worth paying a little extra to see it on IMAX?

I have to say that I wasn't impressed. I saw it in 3D IMAX. I felt that they concentrated more on special effects than story and as a result several of the storylines were addressed minimally and not developed. I felt it was scary unnecessarily so. I would think 2x about taking a kid under 6 or 7 (my twins are 6 and I'm not sure I'll take them.) There are dead bodies and dying spirits (graphically dying). Not to be a humbug but I'd give it a B at the most. Its very expensive ($10 for 3D IMAX and $9 for 3D) to see so if you really want to see go alone and see what you think. I'm glad I did because I don't think I'll pay the $$ for the twins to see it. They probably would be a little scared and bored.

Check out most critics they are being pretty harsh.

word is they stayed pretty close to the source material...................... dickens book was more a short story than a novel...................the characters got fleshed out by screenwriters over the years...............what you saw is what he wrote.

good to hear, we hope to see it this weekend

This quote from a review is what I feel it will be like based on the previews. It seems all movies have to be super amped up all the time now. The visuals look great but it looks like they scream by at warp speed.

"A Christmas Carol should be as cozy and familiar as piping-hot tea and buttered, toasted crumpets, not a brain-battering sensory assault that feels like downing tequila shots on a rollercoaster"

I've read Christmas Carol and it was more effects based than story.

Oops, just saw this thread. Feel free to merge my thread if necessary.
