I saw a cat at Epcot

We saw one at IOA in May -- DD asked a staff member about it, and he said there were lots of cats around. Anywhere there are lots of dropped food opportunities, there will be feral animals (maybe especially cats, after the rodents attracted by the food -- as well as the food). The cats probably help keep the rodent population somewhat under control. People dropping off unwanted pets may be part of the issue, but it only takes one or two "unfixed" cats or dogs to start a self-sustaining feral population. (I won't go into all my scathing remarks about people who do such irresponsible things).

we seen a mouse at epcot when getting on a bus to go back to the hotel, the bus driver told us the real mickey was outside of the bus to see us off, wish we got a picture of it but at least we can say we seen the real mickey mouse

this makes me so sad.

people should not take any animal then desert it. that is cruel.

No I havent seen anything besides the birds, some wildlife

Here's the pictures I took of the kitten begging for food at Universal. It didn't want to be touched, but it wasn't shy at all about crying for food, it even stood on it's hind legs and begged like a dog! I bet that cat ate better than a lot of housecats, it sure seemed to know what it was doing.

If I had seen that one, I would probably have taken it home! Look at those blue eyes!

We saw a black and white cat at Pop in early September. We couldn't get near it though.

Looks like cats can be anywhere.

Lets have Bob Barker remind us to have our pets spayed and neutered!! :thumbsup2 Sorry Im a cleaver donkey. No, really, its very important to do that. Too many stray animals everywhere.

I saw a cat at Epcot at the beginning of September. I guess even cats need a vacation, right? :) I was walking with my 2 daughters from Mission Space (waiting for dh to get off ride) and we were heading toward Test Track to the bathrooms beyond there. I saw a cat walking over to the right in some shrubbery/seating area. My dds did not see it. My 5 yo thought I was teasing her, even though I insisted I really did see a cat! Has anyone else seen a cat at Disney, Epcot in particular? I don't know how it got in there without getting hurt.

That's funny, I saw a mouse!!!! :lmao:

How does this work for you?

The cats are in the parks from an event for the original release of "The Aristocats". They couldn't find them all when it was time to send them all back to where ever they came from.

There have been cats in the parks ever since :thumbsup2

Since I worked for vets and in rescue for many years, I can assure you that there are cat colonies in most places that you go. People dump them off, and in most cases they haven't been spayed or neutered, start to breed, and before you know it you have tons of feral cats that are spreading diseases among themselves like crazy. They have probably learned to beg from people for food, but otherwise are probably anti-social. The diseases that they spread among themselves are upper respiratory disease (sort of like a cold in people), Feline Leukemia, FIV (feline aids- sort of like human aids, but only transmitted in cats), and FIP. The FIV, FIP, and Feline Leukemia are all VERY contagious and are a death sentence once a cat contracts them. None of these can be transmitted to humans. For all of those that you see begging, I'm sure that there are a ton more that are way too afraid to beg. The sad thing is that even if they are trapped, chances are that most of them (if they aren't sick with any of these illnesses) are too feral to ever be properly domesticated. Just ask Cinrell who also rescues animals. It's a very sad situation that I don't think that most people are aware of. :(

Very true, DW and I are working on 2 3rd gen feral rescued kitties. unless you are very patiant and willing to work through a lot of troublesome behavior issues, they do not make the best pets. But after 11+ years with a truely feral dog, the cats are pretty easy to deal with. You just have to socialize at their pace, and understand that they hate pretty much everything, not just you.

I feel cheated. All I saw on our receint trip was a waterbug in the bathroom, and this, the smallest character greet at the resort:
