We are going to be in SD/LA from Tue to Wed(8 nights) next month. I am losing a SD day by changing my plans around, but hopefully this will work out better.
Original Plan - Fly into SD on Tuesday and drive up to Anaheim. Go to the parks from open to close(mid-day break) on Wed & Thu. Then on Fri, squeeze in a very quick trip to Hollywood(DD really wants to see it) before heading to SD by early afternoon.
New Plan - Fly into SD on Tuesday and drive up to Anaheim. Go to the parks from open to close(mid-day break) on Wed. On Thursday, we will head over to Hollywood around 10AM after morning rush hour. After Hollywood, we will make a quick stop at Rodeo Drive and maybe the Farmers Market/Grove before heading to Santa Monica. We will head back to Anaheim after the evening rushing hour. Go to the parks from open to close(mid-day break) on Fri and stay an extra night at the FFI. On Saturday morning, head to SD for the rest of the vacation.
I think the new plan helps in that we won't be rushed in Hollywood and not doing back-to-back long days in the parks should also be easier on everyone. We then still have almost all day on Sat plus Sun-Tue for SD where we hit a lot of the highlights 5 years ago and will be taking it a little slower this time around.
