I have wanted a convertible for years but I want a four seater, not a two seater like the miata, etc. I also don't think I want the Sebring although I have been happy with my 300M. The plan is to give the M to my oldest DS and buy a new car or a certified low miles car, when DH gets home. Any suggestions. I kind of like the way the Audi convertible looks but the price puts me in the low miles used range.

Take a look-see at a Toyota Solara convertible... They start in the mid $20s...

Why does it have to be a 4-seater? I've never liked sitting in the back of a convertible. Too windy.

I got a PT Cruiser convertible 3 months ago and have to say it is a great little car. Holds 4 people comfortably, has tons of options (heated seats, leather, turbo, chrome wheels/accents) and is really easy to put the top up and down (it is automatic, but if you want the fancy "boot" thingy on, that is more work). Now all I have to do is wait for the weather to warm up a little bit more. We have only had one day over 65 degres so far this year, so my top has only been down once.

My dh has the Audi S-4 convertible. That's one cool car!

If you can swing around 30 or so, the Mustang got good reviews and will probably hold it's value well.

I would never ride in my own back seat so it wouldn't be an issue. ;) I just feel that a two seater, while we still have DSs at home is too restrictive.

I don't think Mustangs are particularly comfortable.

I just bought a new VW Beetle convertible. Probably not as sporty as you want but you can get 4 people in there (thought not comfortably). I got it 11 days ago and last weekend we drove all over GA topless. Love it, love it, love it, love it, love it!
Have fun. :sunny:

I want a VW convertible Beetle, too! And I don't even like the sun! :teeth: They just look like they're a lot of fun.
Happy shopping! :sunny:

Dotty...you'd love it. It really goes. I look down and will be going 80 before I realize it. I got a 5 speed because I wanted to have fun with it...and I have. I highly recommend you getting one. :cool1:

A VW convertible was my FIRST NEW CAR that we got after we got married. I loved it! It was bright yellow with a black top. I paid $3600 for it brand new!

Talk to the DH, would ya!? :thumbsup2

BTW--when our VW Passat needed work last year, the dealer gave us a convertible Beetle as the loaner. It took a week for the parts to come to fix the Passat, and I LOVED driving the bug--even though it was an automatic (love manual trans!) Wished the parts never came in...

Holy cow, Dawn! $3600? What year was that?! :sunny:

1972!
I drove it until it fell apart and sold it for $1500!

I like the Solara. It has very nice lines. I also like the Volvo convertible, at least the pictures. I haven't seen that one up close.

I'm scared to ask what year. Mine is pale yellow (Mellow Yellow) with a gray top/interior. Leather, seat warmers....the works. I'm in love with it. Interestingly enough, the VW place also sells the Audi's and the salesman told me they were essentially the same car with a different body style. Have fun in whatever you get. Its time to enjoy the summer. :sunny:

I had a 1988 Toyota Celica GT convertible and I loved it! It was still going strong and looking great when I sold it after 11 years. Back seat was small, but I had adults sit back there for 5 hour drives and never heard a complaint.

I think they stopped making them in 2004 or 2005, but you may be able to find a late-model used one.

Good luck! Convertibles are so much fun!
