I really really want a 2 bedroom

If the four of us go we get a 2 bedroom. I like to get up early and have my coffee without disturbing others.

TOTWL is Top of the World Lounge. I think that's the abbreviation; something like that. But it is a lot of fun to watch Wishes up there!

If I'm not totally exhausted after next week, I'll try to do a little trip report.

<----- Green with envy!

:thumbsup2 That does sound nice. I swear I wasn't even considering BLT and know it might be very difficult at the 7 month mark but I am going to look into it more.

That would make sense points wise too as BLT cost more than SSR.

:cloud9: Your plans sound terrific. Will you do a report? What's TOTWL?

I agree. I hate that messy look too with jammies and blankets and pillows all over.

Good point. 8 points a night seems like hardly anything for an extra bedroom and bathroom.

:goodvibes

:thumbsup2 I like that thinking! I know DH would rather have more room too. We will have 4 non-park days and he'll have his clubs and we may even bring the Wii or PS3 so we'll need more room simply because we'll have more stuff. Now I am thinkning we should go for 11 nights!

I thought about that and AKV is on my possible split stay list. We have stayed at AKV and loved it- it's a beautiful resort. The only aspect we didn't love was that it's out in the boonies respectively. Values at AKV are the best deal in town by far!

TOTWL is Top of the World Lounge. It is up on the 16th floor of BLT and only DVC members staying at BLT can go there.

It serves drinks and some appetizers but the view of the fireworks is breathtaking! We went up two of the three nights we were there and it convinced DH that BLT was really the best location for us.

Having two bathrooms was also wonderful as DD had her own and didn't have to worry about it.

I also say go for the two bedroom. Coming from a studio, it was nice to have some space between us. Of course, once you move up to the 2 bedroom, I think you will have trouble going back!!!

For 10 days I want to have plenty of room but because we fit into a one bedroom it feels unneccesary, even indulgent. I would have to borrow more points.

We have 3 kids but the thought of not having to undo and make that sofa bed every morning and night sounds okay be me! My girls can share a queen and my son can have the other. The living room can be a living room. :lovestruc

GO for the 2 bedroom!!! We have three kids.....probably older than yours. Our sons are 16 and 11 and our dd is 19. We stayed in a 1 br. at Vero for one night before getting 2 inn rooms. NEVER AGAIN. We are sooooooo used to having a 2 br. It made me feel like how we stayed before DVC. We would get a deluxe room and sure everyone had a spot to sleep but it was NOT GOOD. Just having 2 bathrooms is important enough for us to never stay in a 1 br. again. I know BLT and AKV have 2 bathrooms but you are right...it would be a pain to fold up everything PLUS...the kids are sleeping when you want to get coffee started in the morning or you want to watch the news.

I say go for it, use the extra points.

This is really one of those eye-of-the-beholder things. But, we strongly prefer having a 2BR for our family of four. As Sammie wrote, it's just qualitatively more "home-like" that way, and much nicer. The extra bath comes in handy as well, and my kids are getting to an age where it's probably better to not share a bed. We could make do at AKV or BLT, with the sleeper chair and second bathroom. We could even squeeze into a 1BR at OKW now that they have the sleepers. But, we'd rather not.

Yo tambien! :cloud9: I am an early riser and tip-toeing around is not my idea of relaxing.

I look forward to reading it. The lounge sounds fabulous!

I am such a fireworks junkie and that sounds amazing! Not having to wait two hours on Main St sounds even better. ;) I am afraid of not being able to go back as well. Truth be told we haven't stayed in a Studio or one bedroom. We have shared 2 bedrooms with friends though. The common space was always used as a sleeping area though.

Our kids will be 14, 13, and 10 at the time of the trip. The more I think about it, the more a one bedroom would hardly work. getting the kids to share a room in a 2 bedroom might be a challenge at that.

I totally agree. An extra bath is handy too. I simply want to be as comfortable as I am at home sand the stress of daily life. :cloud9:

You guys are the best! Thanks for helping me rationalize *indulging* in a 2 bedroom. My son will be 10 and I wonder if the sleeper chair would be large enough anyway for him to get some decent sleep if we were to squeeze into a one bedroom? :confused3

We are doing our first trip next year the week before Easter at BLT (our home resort). We received 200 bonus points for joining. I am using all of them plus my most of my yearly points for a 2 bedroom. I could save 95 points by going with the 1 bedroom, we are a family of 5, so we would fit fine.

I figure this is our first time and we bought in for the comfort and luxury, so why not do it right the first time. Plus, my 16 son is 6'6" and he needs his own bed.

We are also going next August for 4 days, then I will do a 1 bedroom. We are going on a 3 day DCL following our stay, so I figured we could handle the 1 bedroom for a few nights.

I say splurge...that why you do DVC, you do not want a tiny room. But, the comforts of home. You can always go back to a 1 bed on your next trip.

:thumbsup2

I could suffer with a one bedroom following a cruise. :snooty: ;) How fabulous! Where does the cruise go? One day, we'll do a cruise. :wizard:

Good advice and you are right, we purchase DVC to be comfortable and have nice accommodations not to be crammed all together. :thumbsup2

I am a bad one to ask but I have a 2BR booked at BLT for my dd's spring break next year and we are planning on just the 4 of us.

I have no intention of down grading if we don't invite anyone along.

:dance3: Truly I came to the right place! :dance3: Spring Break at WDW? :woohoo:

They should just be lucky we don't have enough points to book a GV for the 2 of us. The whole purpose of a vacation is to be spoiled. Shoot, we are so spoiled we won't even use ME. I am not riding to disney with a bunch of kids screaming in my ear.

We made the mistake of staying in Studio at HHI when it was just DH and I and we will never do it again. I like the separate living room and the convenience of being able to get up early and have my coffee and watch t.v. without worrying that I will have to be quiet and not wake DH (he's a big vacation sleeper). We also stayed in a 1 bedroom at AKV with our college son and decided we would rather spend the extra points for a 2 bedroom and not have to trip over his stuff in the living room, not to mention the pulled out sofa sleeper. That is why we splurged on enough points to make it comfortable for us when we go.

:rotfl2: Now that's spoiled! How do you get to and from the resort?

A fear a GV when the kids invited even one friend will be our next step too. We stayed in the OKW GV with 10 of in May 2009 and it was heavenly. We still used the sleeper sofa though. It was almost as big as the finished part of my house.

Exactly- that tripping over stuff coupled with having to be quiet is just not reaxing to me. At all! And with 3 kids in the living room I am bound to wake someone. I can also do laundry then without worry.

If we don't rent a car we get a town car and if we have people with us we get a limo.

I haven't thought about renting a car but have considered private transportation. In Cabo we hired private and it was awesome. Of course we could drink beer in the car too. :yay:

[veruca salt]I really really want to to stay in a 2 bedroom!![/veruca salt] I know we'll legally fit into a one bedroom (this is not a occupany thread) but after staying in 2 bedrooms and watching youtube videos of two bedrooms- they are just so much bigger and luxurious to me. :cloud9: Is it worth the extra approximate 83 points to stay in a 2 bedroom for 10 nights vs a 1 bedroom?

Only you know your family, so ask yourself: Will the kids be okay sharing a room for 10 days? Will your family spend hours in the living room and miss having a separate room from the living room for naps or privacy for the kids?

If you have stayed in a regular hotel room for 10 days before as a family why wouldn't a 1 BR villa work?

I should warn you though once you get used to it you will have a hard time ever going back. It is so sad too when they run out of regular cars and upgrade you to a limo for the same price... so very sad. :cool1:

We even hired a car to drive us from WDW to DCL.
