Hey guys. I'm 17 years old this tuesday. I have a goal for the next two months to loose as much weight as possible. Any of you guys (or girls) have any advice for me?

eat right
and get plenty of exersize.

Rollerblading is really fun, and it gives you a great work out too.
There is also a marathon at wdw in april that I'm going to be in, if you like it, you should come out and skate.

healthy eating and exercise. but dont ever think that not eating is going to help. if you dont eat your body will cling on to the fat that you already have, so that it wont die. just change your eating habbits a little. as for exercise, do something you love. if you like to ride your bike, skate, walk, run, play a sport, heck..dance, i suggest trying to everyday, and after 21 days, it usually becomes a habit. good luck, and keep us updated on progress :)

Yes, eat small meals often! If you eat often your metabolism will speed up. You don't need a lot but eat something every 3 hours or so. Eat lots of veggies, fruit and good protien like chicken, eggs and fish. Avoid sugar, saltly foods, fried foods and anything with white flour. And drink LOTS of water. If you drink you won't get as hungry, and when your body is well hydrated it will burn fat better.

And if you slip... don't beat yourself up. Just start again. As many times as it takes. If you keep going you won't fail!

My mom lost 30lb this school year with Weight Watchers, and I'm not saying to go count points or anything :) but they do teach a lot of helpful things - here are some helpful things that have helped me shed a few pounds the past few weeks:

>Water - I know you've probably heard this a million times, but I can tell the difference of when I drink a lot of water and when I don't - and I say go for flavored water - my family is addicted to Propel - it may have some stuff that water doesn't, but it's still healthier than sodas and stuff

>Find an activity(walking, taebo, biking, etc..) that fits your schedule - I like to walk outside for about an hour 4 times a week - I found a river that I never knew existed in my 14 years of livng in the same house - sometimes I'll go with a friend, but alone is good too - and at the beginning, you may dread it, but once you see the results - you'll look forward to it :)

>Don't "give up" or "avoid" anything except over eating! Kiddie size desserts and happy mealsare your friends... ask who ever buys groceries in your house if they can buy oranges, apples(or apple slices for even more readyness), carrot sticks, fruit cups and sugar free jello - all filling, tasty, and healthier than other foods

>Use Common Sense - if you're going to a party, really make a conscious effort to eat really healthy leading up to it - then you can splurge a bit at the party

>Cravings - if you want a Hershey bar really badly, eat half.. leave the other half in the fridge either for later or maybe someone else will eat it - as my mom always has to remind me "The first bite tastes the same as the last"

>Brushing your teeth - I read this somewhere.. there's a correlation between people who brush their teeth a lot and losing/maintaining a healthy weight - After meals and when the munchies kicks in is when it helps the most

I hope these help - they may be cliche, but they work :)

I joined a local gym and I love it! I go there for about and hour 3 times a week and I can feel my body gaining muscle and burning the fat. It is pretty hard at first, but then you can start to begin to feel and see the results. I just got back from the gym now! :thumbsup2 Gyms really help!

I eat when I'm bored, but to help me with that I chew gum. Chewing gum prevents me from eating snacks and it somewhat prevents me from being hungry. When I don't have gum around, I just chew ice cubes when I'm hungry. Also, eat right. And don't starve yourself. When you don't eat, you are losing muscle, not fat. You only think you are losing weight because muscle weighs more than fat. But you want to gain muscle because muscle burns fat :) Be sure to drink lots of water! (Not all at once because I once drank about 3 glasses of water at a resteraunt and had to go to the bathroom a lot :rotfl: )

Eat what you want, When you are truly hungry. Stop when you`re full. And eat exactly what appeals to you. Do this instead of any diet, and you are unlikely to ever have a weight problem, let alone an eating disorder.
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY.

eating right is good but better, or more explicit, info about losing weight is this:

figure out how many calories you eat typically. then eat 500 less each day for a week. at the same time, burn about 3500 calories (500 each day or 700 for 5 days) through exercise. that's 2 pounds a week you'll burn off, which is the max you should burn and be healthy. also - don't totally forbid desserts/things you like because then you'll splurge and overeat. don't get disheartened, it's hard to do, but i'm sure you can!

Burn more calories than you take in.

Eat 6-8 small meals a day, instead of 3 big ones.

Don't starve yourself.

i think all of the calories carbs and fat stuff is just really confusing!!! i like it to be simple so if i have a choice between wheat bread and white bread i choose wheat b/c it is healther it will make you feel really good when you make a healthy choice!! :thumbsup2

Also, exersize!!! I have danced for about 10 years and i love it!! you should give it a try and if that is not your type take walks around your 'hood(sry 4 tha abreviation...very tired :guilty: ) it may seem like it is slow but don't give up!!! and don't stavre yourself either!! becuase if you start to eat again you will get VERY! fat. because your metabolism sped up! so make healthy choices and exersize!!! but don't give up! you can do it! :cool1:

Thank goodness...finally a thread that answers someone's question instead of criticizing her desire to lose weight...

I really have nothing else more to say than what they did...

Pretzels are your friends
So is fruit (and veggies...if you like them :scared: )

I say eat what you want, we're still kids after all. Just eat it in moderation and add more of the good foods to your diet. And exercise! Sitting on an excersize ball instead of a sofa or something is good for you I think.
