We are leaving the 17th and come back the 26th. I have to pack for 6 people 2 adults and 4 kids 11,8,5, and 2

The forcast so far is mid 70's during the day and 50's at night. Now I know this can change one way or the other BUT I wanted to try and get a BASE of what to bring so many shorts ? T's? Long sleeve T's ? Jeans ?
I do plan to do some wash while there to try and cut down on the amount of things I am packing.

We are coming from a cold climate so we will have hats , gloves, winter type coats with us if did happen to get really cold.

they are bringing a sweatshirt with a hood and pockets.
how many of everything else should I bring , this is sooo confusing to try and pack and not end up wit to much stuff on top of it!

I am trying as crazy as this may sound pack 2 kids per suitcase. then bring a dufflebag to check filled with our snacks and then when we leave that will be our bag of goodies we bought.

Or do you think I am going to need to plan more travel bags for us ?? like 4 suitcases instead of 4 with the dufflebag of snacks. the kids will have there carryon bag with there entertainment and there toothbrush, extra clothes.

I started sorting things and had each with child 4 shorts, 5 T's, PJ's ,2 capri and 2 regualr jeans. How would you pack for this time of year or the predicted temps??

I think that sounds like a good set of clothes.

I live about 2 hours north of WDW, and that's the sort of thing I would bring. You want to think LIGHT layers. If we have an unusual cold snap -- you will have your Yankee winter things to tide you over. ;) Even if it's chilly -- they will be fine in shorts/capris if they have a hoodie layered over a t-shirt.

If you are planning to wash, I would not bring more than what you state. I hate schlepping around extra baggage. T's, shorts, jeans will take you pretty much anywhere you want to go, unless you are planning a dinner out at a fancy place.

I might suggest ballcaps or bucket hats -- provide shade from sun and a bit of extra heat retention if it is chilly.

Have a great time! We will be there on the 22nd - 23rd with some of my extended family. :santa:

for this time of year, we pack 1-2 pairs of jeans/long pants, a few pairs of capris for girls/ladies and longer surfer shorts and/or light cargo pants for boys. I bring 1 pair of shorts for mom and girls (even if it is hot, indoor stuff is cooler and capris are better for AM-PM wear). Several short sleeve tees, 2 long sleeve shirts and sweatshirt/light jacket for all. Pretty much you can do the short sleeve, capris/cargo pants and light jacket most days--if hotter shorts, cooler-long sleeves and pants. If I have access to a washer, I bring 4 outfits per person--no matter how many days.

ok thanks maybe I will bring 1 less pair of shorts for each kid. figure you can get by with wearing them more then 1 time if needed.

I plan to pack the swimsuit but would not be surprised if I could not use it.
I thought the day I do wash the kids can swim a bit and we can then head to DTD and have a "Lazy day" so to speak. figure my last 2 days there are going to be long ( Xmas eve and Xmas day).

thanks for all the help!
guess I am on the right track after all!!!

I hate washing clothes but I hate lots of luggage even more then that! the less bags the better!!!!

I reluctantly packed a swimsuit for my friends' visit this past weekend (we stayed at CSR). Ended up going to the pool on Sunday AND getting in the water and it was fabulous! And I do NOT like cold water. You just never know. Definitely bring them -- you didn't say where you were staying, but maybe there will be a hot tub if it's too chilly for the pool.

We are at POR .I would really like the kids to beable to swim 1 day while we are there.

I'm glad to see your thread, OP. I'm also trying to pack. I have laid out a ton of clothes to narrow down. I have what you describe, plus: turtle necks, sweaters, fleece tops, fleece jumpers for the kids. I have way too much "cold" holiday wear. I guess I have to adjust my vision for pictures and such.

I always pack way too much. I'm going to try to do better this trip!

Thanks for the timely thread, OP!

I know I am ususally a heavy packer, and I would be probably this time too BUT.... I have a 3 hour drive to the airport the night before our flight( they had best rate:goodvibes ). That means not so much room in the car even though we have a van. We can not sit all scrunched up for hours.

Plus I am sure they will want a T shirt while there too or something so there is my other top !!

I would probably skip the sweater and fleece ;) . go with a hooded sweatshirt then you have layers under it PLUS you can throw the hood up if you need it and you have your pockets if hands are chilly.

I know it would be nice if we could say it will be 80 and sunny but who knows what it will be.

Oh just a tip for you Walmart has rain ponchos for 1.94 and 2 are in a package! they are MUCH more $$ at WDW.

I don't know if I am more excited to see our kids faces when we get there or if I am just excited to get there. my 2 older kids were there at age 4 and 1 they are now 11,8,5 and 2 . its been 7 years !!:rolleyes1

they are trying to imagine what it will be like and all I tell them its like nothing you have ever seen or done before!
I told our 8 y/o that you get on this bus and you drive there seeing every day people going about there lives then you enter the Resort park and you go to literally a whole new world.

I hope I don't over play it cause I am so excited.... NAH that could not happen...... could it???

I'm going to reluctantly give up the sweaters and fleece. :)I love the idea of it (thinking winter/cold) but it isn't practical for Fla now. Who wants to carry around stuff you won't use?! I think you are right about the hoodie sweatshirts. Thank you for a lighter suitcase, digman6! :goodvibes
