I really hate calling for Dr. appointments!

I just called for flu shots for the kids and me and they are always so snippy on the phone I just hate calling. Our Dr. left to go work elsewhere about 3 weeks ago so we don't have a "regular" dr anymore. They get all snippy about it. She asked who our regular dr was and I said it was "dr X". She proceeds to tell me that we need to pick a regular dr. I said fine, we will pick one when we need one but we haven't needed one yet. She didn't want to give me the appointment without picking a dr. I proceeded to tell her that we never got a call about the flu shots and the kids are on the high risk list and they NEED the shot. I just start getting snippy myself and I don't like it. I usually try to talk to a friend of mine that works there but she is off today.

I agree! There is a definate lack of professionalism vs. a few years ago!!!

I actually had a case where when I was going to a fertility specialist, my DH would make my calls for me. I worked in a small office where there was no privacy and I did not want my personal, medical info to be known to everyone. My DH had a private office where he could shut his door and have complete privacy. The recptionist more than once asked him in a condenscending, sarcastic tone why he had to make my appts amd convey my information for me. There were other issues like this where they would take attitude and over step the bounds of privacy, etc. There were women going to this office who had far bigger issues than I (chronic disease and chronic pain) and I felt bad that they may have met with the same treatment. We could not have been the only ones to complain because it wasn't too much later that practically the entire office staff was let go and replaced - things were much better after that. I would let the physicians know the kind of problems you have had!
